Driver door open, but not showing up on dash

My drivers side door goes through spells of not registering when it’s open. As a result, the window doesn’t go down the quarter inch, so upon closing, the window hits the door frame. Any help would be appreciated.

Somewhere in the car, probably the door, is going to be a sensor that knows if it's open or closed. I'd start there, be sure it's working. Back in the day there were little pin switches in the door jambs but I'm not actually sure where they're located in the 1-ers.

The sensor is in the door lock actuator, the assembly is sealed so you would need a new door lock actuator.

Also, some post's in the e90 forum say they would get those errors and there would be some relation to the angel eyes wiring/bulbs.

I would check bulbs, if not, just get the Actuators. Plus side to changing it is that the door closes with a solid thud like when it was new, at least thats what i noticed when i changed mine.

***Also maybe try to get the window to re-learn the open and closed positions. Its easy to do you just have to hold the window switch in a certain combination which is easy to google.****

Odd. Might be part of a bigger electrical issue i.e. battery not holding a charge correctly any more. Most of us know that once that happens, all sorts of unrelated code popups and other silliness begins.

This is true. Our cars act up whenever they sense a low voltage coming from battery. But I would still check for codes to be safe.

The posts I read were saying aftermarket led bulbs/frayed wiring were the cause.

Perhaps something to do with voltage regulation or draw on an older battery as you have said.
