Service after 1 year

I'm taking my BMW in for oil service which they do after one year. (warrenty)
The also suggested that after 1 year, I should have a 4 wheel alignment done.

The cost of the alignment is about $250. Does it sound necessary? Seemed like a good way for the dealer to make a few extra $$$ to me.

Only 13k on the car and no unusual tire wear or excessive hard driving.

NO!!!! that is a rip off. especially if you have low mileage on the vehicle and are not running over pot holes regularly

Yea, if the car isn't pulling to one side and tire wear is even, and you don't drive it super hard/fast, then I wouldn't get an alignment.

What a rip off. My service advisor did an alignment on mine for $149. They also told me not to get an alignment unless I notice abnormal tire wear, which I had at 22k miles in the rear.

I see this all the time on the BMW forums. Dealerships charging wildly different prices. Someone told me the other day an oil change was $140 at their dealership. Mine charges $88.

As for the price, I'm in Canada. We ALWAYS get ripped of with higher prices :-(

This doesn't make sense. I thought all service was covered for 4 yrs / 50k miles, right down to wiper blades?

So if a 4-wheel alignment is required after one year then they should pay for it.
I'm about to go in for my 1-year service (will have ~12k miles), though I have the oil changed at my expense at 7500 miles.

And for the record I paid $150 for that oil change.

I'm heading in for my 1 years service in 40 minutes, I'll let you know how that turns out. Oh, And I also had oil changed at my expense at 4000 miles , Hendricks charged me $89.00

Ok , 1 1/2 hours, no mention at all of needing four wheel alignment. Replaced wipers oil and filter. No charge
