The colder it is, the more my engine squeaks on a cold start. Normal?
As the title says, the colder it is outside, the louder my engine makes a squeaking noise on a cold start. I've read that this can be "normal", but I'm not so sure anymore. Continues to squeak too if I drive right away. If I leave the car running for about 10 minutes, it'll eventually go away, so its more annoying than anything else.
Idler/tensioner along with pulleys and belt have been replaced Valve cover has been replaced OFHG has been have replaced (both of them) The only other things I can think of are the crank seal or the alternator at this point. No signs of any oil on the belt either. |

The VANOS fix is an odd one, and I don't think complete. Only thing I can think of that cam timing may make squeal would be PCV (overlap and higher crank case pressure) or advanced exhaust cam and more exhaust pressure in combination with a leaking exhaust gasket. But not having experienced it myself I just don't know. Seems strange. And on the subject of the solenoids, if you're cleaning them you should also clean the filters --> https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=900394 Not sure if the N55 is the same place or not. |
