Voice Control
I cannot wait to use the voice command feature but my question is....what is the accuracy rate of the system in recognising voices???
Is there a training procedure or is it a matter of speaking clearly and SLOWLY??? I dont want to command the radio to tune into a particular frequency if it takes 5 seconds in slowly commanding....would be quicker by hand using idrive !! |

Just speak clearly. No training required - regognises anybody's voice.
I've had my car for a couple of weeks and have used voice commands loads of times and had no problems with it.

try it our a few times. you will get the hang of it. it's not hard at all.
what's the worst that could happen? so the voice lady gets angry with you and refuses to let you start the car. only joking!!! check out CMD's well laid out voice prompts list a little further down the threads list. that will really help you get going and keep you going. enjoy your car.

Couple of tips: speak normally (we tend to over inunciate) at a normal speaking volume. Make sure all windows are closed and the A/C isn't running on loud fan - background noise makes it difficult. Certain words are just difficult to recognize... for example, words with soft low sounds like "home" are tough. I ended up changing it to "house", which is a clearer.
Experiment a little when you get it. I will say, it is a very good VR system.

I think the voice control works GREAT! I have had only a few instances where it didn't immediately recognize the command. But, in general I can speak at a normal conversation pace and it works fine.
I have even used these commands when I was hoarse and it still worked fine. There are two things that will cause it to malfunction. 1. If you start speaking before the beep. This is probably the most common problem I have had. 2. A few times my radar beeped while I was talking and caused it to give the wrong command. Basically, you need things to be quiet in order for it to hear your voice. Michael
