I drove her to work and back home. The destination doesn't matter, it's all about the journey.

Damn, I had to get a new passenger door window after someone smashed it while I was on vacation only to steal a $50 Dash Cam. Came out to $275 using aftermarket glass (only one they could get this week).

Anyone know what it costs for a BMW OEM Pilkington replacement window instead? I feel like at some point not seeing all the little logos on the glass being the same might trigger some level of OCD.

Easy enough to find out.
Enter VIN into RealOEM, get P/N, then cross - shop ECS Tuning, FCP Euro, and Tischer /GETBMWPARTS for price.

Mine 's about $120.
Plus shop labor, of course.
Good luck!

Or in Florida it's free b/c windshield coverage is included with auto insurance. If it's pitted free replacement. ;-)

My wife and I just wrapped up a 5 day tour through the Kootenays in BC. Tons of fun roads that we've explored before on 2 wheels. Hitting them in the car was fun, I missed digging in and carving through the corners on the bike, but on the other hand, having a sandwich on the road was much easier! The weather was awesome for the whole trip, the top was only up overnight and for a couple hours one afternoon when it was too hot to hav it down. The car ran like a champ, and was a complete hoot to drive!

The dealer replaced sound insulation, and sensors. And "supporting ledge". Labor was 799.00, ah well I wanted all of my rain sensors and light sensor doodads to work the first time.

Finished my suspension mods...
Alignment getting done this weekend...
Car feels completely different...

What i did want to mention though is my mechanic, who has been working on the N54 platform for a while, voted against me putting on my M subframe bushings. He said it wouldn't make that much of a difference over stock due to the suspension mods that I had done. He also mentioned that my current bushings were just fine.

What do you guys think. It's a 900.00 job that wasn't worth it is what I was told. I've done my research as best as I can which I why I bought them in the first place. But when a shop that works on bmws primarily and has a great reputation says otherwise I figured I should take the advice.

What do you guys think?

Installed M3 control arms, new tie rods, and got car aligned. Tie rods were probably unnecessary but were cheap. Front end is so tight now with 54k miles on the clock.

You can move the subframe with a screwdriver, because the stock bushings are so squishy. I did mine with the suspension, so I can't isolate which thing gave me the most improvement, but many gurus around here will say the subframe bushings should be #1 in terms of things to do. I'd certainly do it.

Interesting. You'll get a whole lot of differing opinions. There is a thread on rubber vs Al on here that is active now.

I did inserts as a relatively easy diy and not expensive. They helped a good bit but not huge. Also looked at them as increasing the bushings life by taking some of the load. However, I still feel a little step out on long sweeping curves when hitting road imperfections. I really don't know if M (or stiffer) rsfb's would eliminate this. Car is pretty stiff so that little wiggle might be expected.

Read that thread before I posted here...
I know it's a " go to" upgrade, but was just wondering what I should do now.

I have the bushings in my garage, and my initial thought was to save them and install them down the line when/if my stock bushings go bad and second thought...sell them!

I plan on keeping my car for as long as possible. It's not my daily, so maybe I should just keep them.

I think I literally read every post on here about the subframe bushings before I bought them so i know i had the right idea.

Oh well!

I added the insets & differential brace. The two of them really locked down the rear end. That said the Ohlins R&T & stiffer springs took it to another level of control & comfort.

Not all today but new plugs, Tune2 Air, detail and Nav Maps update that I bought online from Germany for US$40

https://bmwsatnavupdates.com/product/bmw-1-series/

Hardest part was formatting my 64 GB USB to FAT32 on a Windows 10 PC.

Used FAT32 format which you can download here

http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm

Followed the instructions for configuring the USB, plugged it into the glove box USB socket, entered the purchased code and followed the prompts. Took about 15 mins to download.

..........and viola

New maps !

Do you still get a little sideways wiggle when hitting a bump while cornering? I have the Whiteline 2 piece RSFBs and TCKline DA Rear with Monroe Upper mounts, but I still feel the wiggle. I'm doing the M rear wishbones and guide rods soon. If that doesn't do it, then I guess maybe a diff support bracket?

Rob at Speed Logic told me the same thing, if you're running aftermarket strut's or coilovers, the rsfb is unnecessary. People here swear by them, I don't have it so I can't comment, but Rob builds some of the sickest n5x cars in the country, so I lean towards his opinion.

The diff brace helped a lot with the bump wiggle. Maybe 80%. The Ohlins & stiffer springs took it to a whole other level.
