I can understand that. I have somewhat significant hearing loss so tactile feedback matters more for me in cars. I misjudged HOW MUCH MORE.

The PDK/DCT is truly incredible. I just feel detached.

Glad I went Base 2.9 Cayman manual. Very involving...even when standing still.

Today I had a rusting (steel) oil pan replaced and new engine mounts installed.

I immediately could feel the difference in smoothness from the engine bay with the mounts. Car felt brand new.

The clock also turned over past 41,000 miles.

Did a bunch of random maintenance, but was particularly excited about replacing these. Low priority, but got a cyber Monday deal from FCP.
No more disintegrating plastic every time I open the doors!

Love that you used BMW labeled sills and not M. I'll be replacing mine with the standard ones too soon in my ever present M delete effort.

I definitely want to avoid M-overload on the interior...I feel like another part could push it over the edge.

Interestingly, the shiny parts are black on the new ones, chrome on the old.
Just happy to get my hands on some, didn't see any version in stock for ages.

Could be worse, could be a new BMW... there are more M logos and colours in the interior than HVAC vents.

Yeah, I actually have an M (F85 beast) and it is subtle inside. My fixation is too much fake carbon fiber. I bought a fake shifter surround and knob but ended up returning them. Too much and it starts to look cheesy.

Yeah, I ended up with a few M logos that weren't there when the car was built, just in the natural course of replacing worn out parts with better parts over time.
E90 M3 steering wheel, ZHP shift knob, 1M floor mats (logos are whatever, I liked the stitching to match the seats)...I think that's plenty.

After trying to figure out headers and a tune all year, I think I have my setup finished!

Tried headers, found them to be too loud. Took them back off and put my stock manifolds back on. Got halfway through my tune and got frustrated from not being confident in what I was doing, and lack of support from the tuner. Canceled/refunded my tune. Found them to be not very responsive or caring about my questions, and potentially bricking my ECU makes me nervous.

Flash forward a couple months, 22RPD has a Black Friday sale. Couple dudes on here posted the discount codes, so I pulled the trigger since it saved me ~$130. I had a much better experience with 22RPD. Quick, helpful communication, and more straightforward remote tune process. Just got back from my test drive.

My N51 pulls a little harder now, and all the way to redline! Hard cut limiter, more meat in the midrange, and better throttle response. The throttle lag is not completely gone, but I've accepted some of this has to do with the heavy and sacked out DMFW with 130k on it, and the fact that this car does not have a throttle in the traditional sense.

Car feels great now!

I quick tested a new used headlight I bought on eBay. My existing one works except the adaptive functionality is not. A few months I discovered all the wiring going to servor motor is crumbling in pieces shorting out and not working. Headlight works believe or not. My adaptive function is back and running with the new headlight replacement. I guess I woll be removing the bumper to install it. 🙄
I used the Protool to disabled code out the error light in the dashboard.and I just enabled it back and the light automatically reset the position and all worked fine.
Cheers 🍻

Received my repaired FRM on Friday and reinstalled it today. Window gremlins seem to be gone and windows working as designed. Glad that these problems can at least be repaired and hope this repair holds for a good long time.

Nice. We probably need to start a thread for electronics repairs, what shops did a good job and what was required for what issue.
