I've always had mine under the passenger side as I'm concerned about it coming loose, as well as it being a serious missile in the footwell in a crash.

Chubb/Quell offers automotive extinguishers locally with a locking strap harness that is in line with CAMS regulations for racing.
Nice, do you have any photos of yours? Which brand do you use? I wonder if CAMS would be ok with the OEM BMW extinguisher.

+ 1 I wouldn't mind seeing other options either. I didn't consider whether the OEM extinguisher would be certified to Australian Standard AS 1841

My one is in the Evo. It's just bolted onto the floor aft of the passenger seat (in the forward-most position).
Haven't had a chance to fit one into the Beemer yet

For the Mexicans, RACV has the CAMS suitable one for $33

So I just double check with my local dealer and it seems they don't bring to Australia because it doesn't meet the ADR.

he doesn't know if they are class ABE though.

So with that in mind - not sure if it advisable to use it over here??

And on that bombshell, I think I'd rather invest in one which satisfies ADR and CAMS (?) reqruirements. Sorry Rey..

Nah is good - at least we found out before purchasing it

I would rather have one that works properly over here anyway!

Yeah lucky huh. Thanks for spearheading the campaign

edit: the one Unkie linked to seems pretty good! I wonder if it comes with a base mount?

Rey, Would you mind asking whether the mounting bracket can be purchased separately? And if you can fit other bottles on to it?

Finding a mount is the hard part, you can get extinguishers just about anywhere localy.

This is what I used to have in the wrx but it won't work for the BM.

Yeah the mounting bracket can be purchased seperately - I will have to ask and see what shipping is like.

In terms of mounting a different extinguisher, I can ask but I am not sure if the guy will know!

Thanks Ray let us know how you go. Finding the extinguisher is not hard but finding a nice bracket usually is.

I'd almost bet any 1kg extinguisher would fit in there. I like how it's mounted, so it will move with the seat.

Rey are you happy doing the research, I really appreciate it and would be very interested in just the bracket. Let me know if you're over it! Even if we got dimensions of the bracket, we could work out if it fits our local extinguishers.

Yeah I will do some digging on the mount dimension - let me see if I can find it.

FYI, that red wired extinguisher holder which is attached to the seat mount, is the same one which came with my 1kg cams approved fire extinguisher from Repco.

from the other post I made on e90 I asked one of the member that has the mount to post his setup.

He bought a fire extinguisher from repco and it fits in the mount.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670558

Already asked him to see if he can give us some measurement of the bracket.
