Angry bad ride

Ive had my vert a few months now and I love it, it took a while to get used to after my E46 and after all that the only thing I’m not really happy with is the ride, if it wasn’t for the fact I got a puncture a couple of weeks back I was sure the tyres were solid, it feels every little bump in the road, I can even feel the overbanding I'm not talking pot holes! but pot holes are bad enough I’ve owned cars in the past and fitted coil overs so its on its belly and the ride was better, so can anyone think of anything that could cause the ride to be so harsh, it had new shocks fitted about a year ago just for info.
Any help would be much Appreciated.

Are the tires Runflats? No idea if that's standard equipment in the UK like it is here, but they're pretty horrible and ditching those makes a huge difference.

Otherwise, any info on the replacement shocks? Are they OE BMW shocks, or a generic replacement?

im guessing they're not run flats as I got a puncture in one of the back tires, shocks were fitted by an Indi so not oem. also I don't get any knocks or bangs from the suspension itself but more like having 120psi in the tires if that makes sense.

Run flats doesn't mean never flat. Run flats are designed where the sidewalls are extremely stiff so in the event of a deflation, the tire will not deform significantly and work its way off the wheel.

Everything you describe is indicative of how run flats affect the car.

well that sort of makes sense, Thanks guys, looks like I'm tire shopping now then , I have always wondered why many bmw owners remove them as soon as they get their new cars as they are oe on many cars in the UK.

Also, run flats are designed to run for a limited amount of miles, I think approx 50 miles, with a puncture.

If you are going to use a summer only tire, highly recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Unbelievable how much better they perform, AND, ride so much better at the same time.

This is truth. Great traction too. They seem to hold well up to about 550whp or so.

And I will like to add that MPS4S tires last longer. I've got 30k miles on my Z4 and there is still plenty of life left. The extra cost pays for itself.

If you are looking for a less extreme tire the Continental DWS06 works very well on these cars too. Gives you decent "3-season" capability, a good bit cheaper, and they last reasonably well.

The difference between them and the stock Continental SSR runflats is night and day.

Very pleased with them on my 128i convertible.

There's a chance the shocks aren't the right ones or are particularly stiff. A really high compression setting also feels like 120psi in the tires.
