135i N55 Help

I'm hoping someone here might be able to offer some advice/direction on the issue(s) I'm having: 2011 BMW 135i (N55)

Background:
  • My son received an alert that the can needed oil. When he checked the gauge said to add 1 qt. which he did.
  • After adding the qt, he checked again and the gauge still read low, so he drove the car around the neighborhood and checked again when he noticed oil running out under the car and that it was running really rough (suddenly)
  • When we raised the hood we could see where oil had shot out from the oil filter seal and ran down from the top of the engine.
  • I later pulled the codes and found that nearly all cylinders were showing a misfire, injector shutdowns, vanos control errors. When I tried to check the oil level the indicator would no longer work.
  • The water pump is now running constantly as soon as the car wakes from sleep (unlock button etc). and continues to idle rough and go immediately into limp mode due to misfires.

What I've tried:
New oil level sensor
Flashed DME back to stock
Checked/replaced/recoded battery
Verified water pump is good
Checked all grounds and wiring for issues

Does this sound like a DME that is failing? If so, can I swap in another good DME as a test before going through coding?

Thanks for any advice on this one, I've been pulling my hair out for a few weeks.

A bad or weak battery will give all kinds of weird codes.

Hope the engine didn't get fried after dumping oil.

Sounds like the oil filter housing gasket is at least one of the issues. Have you looked at the spark plugs? Could be anything from coils to injectors to fuel pump.

I would look at the oil filter housing and the Serpentine belt. When the oil blew it likely got all over the belt. I would make sure the n55 didn't eat part of it.
