Phil,

I have the Meguiars G110v2 RO polisher.

On my Alpine white 135 I can use Megs 205 on a white pad and get 95% correction. Very minor swirls on the car, I've been pretty careful with this car since taking delivery from the dealership.

On the Estoril blue e36 M3 I seem to need a 2 step 105/orange pad, 105/black pad. Even hard water spots are tougher to polish out on this car.

One thing I definitely noticed is that the clear coat on BMWs tend to be a bit harder than on Acuras.

Any tips for polishing a clear bra would be great.

I picked up my new 2012 128i last saturday. Love it...

My house and driveway is surrounded by large oak trees. I have noticed that they (oak trees) tend to produce what I assume is some sort of sap or sticky pollen substance. Any advice or suggestions on the best product or technique to use to clean this mystery substance off my new baby?

I am a bit OCD about having a clean car, but really don't have to time to wash her on a daily basis. Weekly, yes...

I have a similar situation with regard to parking and to help reduce this assault on the paint I use the BWM exterior car cover (from Tischer http://is.gd/pNqDW9). It's a PITA to remove and replace if you drive regularly but it will keep all that crud and other debris off your car and its finish.

There are a number of folks who think covers scratch and it's true if you have a dirty cover on the inside and/or car, you'll get some minor scratches but they can be polished out. You're far more likely to get blemishes, that is stone pits and dings just from driving on public roads. For the most part, if you've got good protection on the paint, you can rinse the car off and safely put the (clean) cover on, even wet. I got my 1-er in 2010 and have gone through two BMW covers (both washed at least once), but it makes a considerable difference in protecting your finish if you have to park outside, especially near or under trees. Like everything else, it's a trade-off. FWIW, I also have my 1-er professionally detailed at least once a year, twice if I can; my detailer vouches for the cover.

congrats.

you can use Stoner's Tarminator but every time you remove the sap you have to make sure to wax or seal the are again.

I am looking for a good leather cleaner and conditioning combo product. I prefer something that will leave a matte finish. Thanks.

Looking for a particular glass polish...

Back in my copier repair days, we used a white-hazing liquid polish on the mirrors and scanner of the machine. These mirrors were front coated to minimize light dispersion, and the cleaner went on as a liquid, dried to a haze, and wiped off to a perfectly clean surface.

I have not been able to find it since. I do remember working on machines at Aberdeen where one could still smoke in the buildings, and those yellow mirrors came out perfect everytime.

Any ideas? Ever heard of such a thing?

Thanks

Two questions:

Is ceramic tint worth the premium charged? Don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask. I am not doing it for looks, but I live in TX and the sun is very hot. I was quoted 329 for a 1 series, which seems pricey.

What is the best way to care for alcantera/feux-suede? I have a 1m and it has a few areas with suede looking material on the interior. It seems to accumulate dirtiness very easily. How can I care for this?

Thanks

You got 95% correction using Megs 205 and a white pad? I'm assuming your paint was in good nick to start off, right? I had to use 105 and a yellow pad to put a dent in my wife's 135i.

Is there anything you could recommend for keeping the wheels cleaner after washing (ie, less brake dust build up)?

The Wolf's Rim Shield would work well.

It will ease up the cleaning on the wheels.
