COBB Tuning introduction to the N54/N55 community...

Hello All,

I would like to introduce myself and show a little of what is to come for the N54 community. I'm a reverse engineer who works for COBB Tuning. For the last while I have been working on adding N54 (N55 support is being worked on ) support to the AccessPORT and that support is about ready.

Cheers,
Rob@Cobb

Nice! Will the numbers be anywhere close to the piggybacks on the market?

I'll believe it when I see it, but it's certainly something I'd be willing to purchase.

From what I know of Cobb, there is no hardware to install and the flash is 'self installed'

If this is the case with the Cobb product for BMW then the bar has just been raised.

I just drove my 135i today that has been one of the test cars for COBB's AccessPort. I used to run the JB3 2.0 on setting 6. My only engine modification are straight pipe for muffler. I can attest that the car has more power, especially in the upper end, in comparison to that setting. I think this has to do with being able to control the throttle, which the stock BWM program starts to partially close in the upper rpm range. I don't think the piggybacks can overide this function. I'm sure Rob will be better able to discuss.
Anyway, I'm sure everyone will agree the biggest benefit is not having to switch out the harness everytime a dealership trip is needed.

Peak numbers aside, its nice to have options. Especially if its easier to install/remove/hide and cost less than the competitors. As long as the cost/power ratio is compareable to competitors, it should do well.

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing some charts/logs.

Aside from a safe and more powerful tune, increased throttle response was the biggest thing I liked with the AP for the EJ25. I really hope Cobb gets rid of whatever steps and limits BMW coded into the N54/N55. In my short experience with my 135i, it's not linear.

And yes, the plug and play functionality is incredibly appealing. It's the main reason why I never considered the JB3 or the Procede.

I'm near Plano, any chance we can get a custom dyno tune at your facility after you release the AP?
