(2009 128i vertte n51) Convertible top not secure SOLVEEDDD!!!

Issue: top wont open or close via buttons

errors: "top not secure", error code 00D217

I have tried to follow a few other posts on repairing this but no luck so far (i tried the post about the z4 that had a loose hall sensor on the shock for the tonneau cover with no luck https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1720489)

This seems to have happened after a bad rain storm a few months back (fucking rain always screws up the top on this damn car)

bottom of foam of hydraulic pump is little damp (the rain water loves to pool here and fucked up my old rds before)

I replaced the entire top closing latch mechanism (two hooks, motor and sensor) and that did nothing at all.

any help would be awesome

So i got pissed last night and tried to dive balls deep into fixing this pos.

I found that there were two thicker black wires on the passenger side where the entire top pivots that had been frayed from all the years of folding and what not.

i cut them, stripped them down and put electrical tape on them as a temp but it didnt seem to fix it at all.

I am pulling my hair out at lack of help on all the forums and am prob a day away from taking it to a repair shop and paying out the pocket for it....

I wonder if its worth taking to the dealership for a diagnostic? At least with this you can go to the repair shop with someting to reference with?
