Turner Solid Delrin-Aluminum Rear Subframe Bushings
Has anybody installed these?
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-11...m-e82-e9x.aspx How do these do on the road? Any thoughts on subframe damage?

maybe someone on the E90 forums have installed them. I went with the OEM M3 rear subframe and couldn't be happier.

1addict member Wolfe has tried some different transmission mounts. In the end he went with M3 ones bc of the high NVH was too much. Wolfe also made a DIY and posted it on the last page of this trhead.
Anyone fitted e46 M3 transmission mounts? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ghlight=e46+M3 I have the e9x M3 rear subframe bushing. While totally getting rid of the rear end wiggle(aka the rubber band effect) they are really not that much stiffer on rough pavement. Dackel's replacement of rear suspension OE bushings with M3 ones… http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...frame+bushings Dack |

One opinion that I've read is that although solid mounts do increase NVH some part of the increased NVH is offset by correct suspension setup for the road conditions. The suspension does cycle more since it's now having to pick up the slack for the previously soft bushings. The caveat to the above would be that road conditions don't remain the same, especially during daily driving. Thoughts?

The M3 rear subframe bushings transform our 1er's. Gone is that rear end wiggle when you go over a pothole or man hole cover. At high speeds when you change lanes or turn into a corner... the car is just perfectly happy. This is a MUST HAVE mod for any 1er!
One of my biggest surprises is how much better the front end suspension now works. The car turns in better and feels way more planted and under control. I was a little bit worried these M3 bushings would make the car ride too rough... but the ride is almost the same. Its just when you load up the rear suspension... the suspension now works! I can't say enough good things about this mod. I really would not mess around with some of those rear bushing inserts or harder bushings - Just go with the factory //M stuff! |

At least one e90post member runs those delrin solid subframe mounts and says nvh didn't increase too much. He compared the increase in nvh to adding camber plates up front. He runs very stiff springs and alot of torque, so the M3 subframe bushings were inadequate.
Personally, I couldn't see using the solid mounts in anything other than a dedicated track car. I do wish I had installed something a little stiffer than M3 subframe bushings since my car still doesn't track completely straight under full throttle. Other options are Powerflex urethane and BMW Motorsport Group N subframe bushings but for the lighter 1 series, M3 subframe bushings should be just right unless it's a dedicated track car.

We have done many of these mods with solid alum. bushings from Turner Motorsports. This is a mod that is strictly reserved for track cars. Unless you like the whole car to buzz all you and feel everything on the road we recommend the M3 bushings over the delrin or alum.

its been discussed in the M3 forum, they are clowning us =for using their m3 bushings and some have changed to the solid bushings, say there is not much change to NHV but most tuners, including Harold say its rough and not for a mainly Street Car, even with more HP

we are all starting to focus on these instead: solid delrin for Differential mounts, leave m3 for the subframe

NEVER do solid diff mounts unless you want way higher NVH...
Delrin subframe bushings would increase NVH slightly but Delrin Diff mounts I'd be bleeding from my ears in a DD Benefits are definitely there but not on a daily driven vehicle. |
