After sitting for 5 days, my '12 135i (US) w/97K miles started blowing HOT air - not 'warm' air - but heated air even with A/C set on full max. Read that this may be an indication of radiator fan not working but oil and water temps are normal, even when sitting still. No engine check lights, nothing. Any ideas from the brain trust? Thx!

I know this is being posted in other places, but figured it should be mentioned here.

We are FINALLY getting notified that BMW has started a recall for this issue on our cars. It seem like the first official posting was August 6th 2019 as that's the date of the recall. For reference, I can find info on the same recall for the 3 series back in late 2017, and as most of us know, the 1 and 3 series share a lot of the same parts.

Curious to hear other people's experience when getting the recall done. Time it took, what else was looked at, etc. I figure this should be a pretty straightforward thing based on the DIY's, but you never know.

I haven't received anything about a recall and I haven't gotten any recall mailings from the DOT (one can register for these, the last I got was for campaign 19V563, front seatbacks may fold unexpectedly, 2018-19 X3 and X4). If/when I hear anything I will post that here.

It will be interesting to see what the repair entails as this is a water problem and not an electrical issue (IMHO, at least).

I haven't heard from the DOT nor BMW... but my dealer subscribes me to CARFAX reports and I've just received an email from them detailing the blower motor recall. Huh.

I got the first letter in the mail about the recall and then received a second letter in the mail recently now that parts are available. My car will be going to dealership this Friday for it.

So what is/was the recall-fix?

I assume lots of people have had the recall done by now -- do we have any more information on what is done? Motor replacement? Wiring replacement? Vent management to prevent water ingress?

It would be awesome to see some before/after-recall pix of the blower-motor area. Anyone have information?

Mostly just a harness replacement it sounds like, depends on how bad the existing one is it seems to be which specific procedure they follow.

Dealer sent a tech to my house, he replaced the wiring harness (I'd already replaced the blower). This is clearly a water problem, nothing was done to correct that.
