fluid leak behind pass fr wheel diagnosis
2011 128i
It looks like water, appears almost blue while viewing a drip but dries almost like water(clear) on paper I put down. It isn't oily at all. Any thoughts? Edit: I believe it is windshield washer fluid. If you agree do you have any DIY tips as to getting to the hose, seal, or fluid container? Is it a shop job as I am somewhat challenged with moderate repairs due to physical issues? Last edited by Artdnj; 05-10-2024 at 02:22 PM.. |

Yeah the washer fluid tank is bolted to the chassis behind the passenger side front fender. I haven't had to access mine but I'd think you'd need to remove the fender to figure out if it's a leaking fitting or possibly cracked tank.

Thx, I looked it up and it looks like the wheel and inner liner needs to be removed to allow access to hoses and tank. It still sprays like a bi&^h but leaks as fast as I fill up the tank.

Had the same issue, except mine was orange washer fluid.
Ended up being a leak between the windshield washer pump and where it connects to the reservoir. Replaced both the headlight and windshield pump while I had it pulled out. |

I bought both and replaced it all so I didn’t have to come back and do it again. If I remember right, my issue was the grommet for the the headlight washer pump. Haven’t had the leak since and the newer pumps put way more flow than the original ones. I bought the parts from FCP: BMW Windshield Washer Pump MEY-3148700001 BMW Windshield Washer Pump Strainer and Grommet BMW-61667006063 BMW Headlight Washer Pump Grommet BMW-61678374382 BMW Porsche Headlight Washer Pump VDO-246086001007Z BMW Expanding Rivet (x20) [You can lose these when removing the fender] VAI-V200736 |
