Who does your taxes?
It's tax time!!
And since i'm new to the area (and have to file state taxes for the first time ), I was wondering if you guys had recommendations as to where to go or CPAs to get in touch with? I'm prob going to do them w/ turbo tax, but I someone to check over what I did, and to possibly find deductions I didn't think of Thanks!

I use the same firm that does Tim Geithner's and Tom Daschle's taxes.

been using TurboTax for more than 10 years now; its actually pretty decent regarding deductions since its updated every year to include new ones.
its also good to play around with all the different deductions and filing status to see what the differences are and what gives the most refund.

I've always used TurboTax. It's excellent. This year, things are a little more complicated so we're actually having an accountant do them, but I still bought TurboTax at Costco so I can compare how the accountant does versus how TT does.

Speaking of taxes, here's an interesting possible development with the absolute disaster of a "stimulus" plan that Congress is trying to shove down our throats.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090204/D964OOD80.html This basically says that they might be adding a tax break for car buyers, allowing us to claim an income tax reduction on both the sales tax paid for a new car, and for the interest payments on financing. I'm not sure if it will be retroactive over the fiscal year, or further back, or not at all -- but it will be something interesting to keep an eye on. I think the article says you could save $1,500 on a $25,000 car -- sounds good to me. |

Turbotax till this year, switch to taxcut because they have free fed e-filing and unlimited use. Turbotax charges for everytime even doing a second return. I think they recently changed that due to bad press, but it was a BS move and they lost me as a customer.

There is this Indian uncle that I go to. He is a CPA and works out of his home in FFX. He is cool as hell and has one hell of a computer setup in his home office. He always saves me tons of money!

soooo it's mostly double checking... if your tax return is straight forward, then you don't need a CPA... but mine are not this year
