Plastic noises

I love the first weeks when the car is new... no plastic noises and the sensation that all the car is 1 piece.

After some time of normal usage (some bumps, uneven roads, etc), you start to hear the usual plastic noises.

My question is: how do you "repair" this?

If you're still under warranty, dealer will repair most of them if they're "defective". I just got my driver's side grab handle replaced because the plastic bits were buzzing on rough roads.

Not trying to be a smart ass, get yourself some trim tools. At most $10 on eBay. Then do some research on how to take the interior apart. Find out where the noises are coming from and take the piece off. Then see why it's making that noise and put it back on. Just be ready to buy a new plastic piece if you break it. Haha. Happens often when taking the side dash vents off.

Are you talking about the trim pieces on the handle? I keep hearing a rattle at 1600-1900rpm in every gear on the passenger side door and I'm convinced it is either the trim piece or the door storage piece. It drives me absolutely nuts.

I'm talking about the handle itself. My rattle was in the spring mechanism under the little white piece of the handle hinge. No idea if the dealer actually tested it, or just believed me but I got it replaced without question.

Although, I have a really loud dash rattle behind the gauges somewhere that even my radio won't drown out. Will have to go in there and find out what it is.

This could be your plastic noises.

This is similar to the response I was going to give...I was just going to say "Tear it apart, that's how".

Hmmm since I bought my car over a month ago I have this plastic rattle near the center of the dash. I kept thinking its from the plastic 'aluminum cube' trim piece that runs across the dash but I cant pinpoint it. Anyone else have this noise? Also my car is still under CPO so maybe the dealer will look into it and possibly fix it? Thanks!

same problem... I hear it when I drive over uneven surfaces, not all the time.
I started to hear them after going to the beach a couple of weeks ago. The combination of driving on sand (with irregular surface) and leaving the car 1 day under the sun.

buy a Lexus

that aside, ive just spent 20 thousand English pounds ($32K ) on a 12 plate 135i and ive just cured a major dashboard / plastic rattle by inserting part of a plastic cable strap between the door pillar and the dash. Common fault apparently.

I look forward to the next 5 years of quality German motoring .

You wont see anything but all I did was cut a piece of large cable / zip tie and stuff it out of sight into the gap where the dash and the A pillar meet on the passenger side . Took a few seconds.

I was getting two noises from that same area, one was a creaking when the heater was on on a cold morning (expansion?) the other a higher pitched rattle. The higher pitched rattle has gone, I havent had the opportunity to see if the creaking has gone yet.
