Installing SS section 1 on a n51 (cat delete)

I'm looking to get rid of my secondary cat to make my PE sound even better. Will Supersprint section 1 pipes fit my n51?

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...traight-pipes/

It says it only fits n52 and up to 2012 but I'm thinking it should be fine for the n51. I don't think there is any change between 2012 and 2013 either.

Also would this setup cause a CEL?

Picked up my 2013 128i a couple months ago and have been loving it! I almost gave up on looking for one since finding a manual that wasn't peasant spec'd seemed almost impossible. I waited and got everything I wanted, manual, M sport, Nav, bi xenons and just about every other option.

I prefer "enthusiast spec'd". Regardless, guilty as charged.

Awesome thanks, just purchased it along with some 55mm clamps and an exhaust cutter.

I took a quick look under my car today and could not find any o2 sensors around the cat. Do they not have an o2 sensor past the secondary? I didn't look very hard so I may have missed it.

No sensors past the exhaust manifold. There are only pre and post cat on the header.

Couple of points...yes, you'll get a CEL removing the lower cats; there's sensors for them and the cat heaters...BYW, you MUST remove the heaters, otherwise they'll stay hot all the time trying to heat the non-existant O2 sensors.

If you're only looking for sound, you'll get it with the SS pipe...but if your looking for power, you might consider what I & others have done...Stage3 intake, AA headers + their tune, aFe intake, and Magnaflow catback... Now, the car will actually move, and not just make noise.

There's a reason I bought my "peasant" spec'd car, basically no options except manual sport seats (perfect), let me point out that I'd rather pick my own options, rather than use BMW's hi-priced stuff. Now that LED's are available, zenons are old school, and I'll take my coil-overs and hollow swaybar with adjustable heim-joints, over M-sport. Plus 6-piston BBK, wavetrac finned diff, 18" wheels, oil cooler, oil pressure gauge, Whiteline sub bushings, Blackline tail lights, and on & on...

That's not true, there is no sensor for the secondary catalyst.

Great well that makes it easier, I can don't have to mess with the o2 bung or worry about a CEL.

I did this a couple weeks ago and it sounds great. The sound is the same just 15-20% louder and a few more burbles and pops. The PE is an axle back, so it still has the resonator, I have no plans on removing that.

My next move would be catless headers, though I'm worried about it being too loud and passing emissions inspection (NoVA). With a tune to clear the CEL and some light bribery I should be good.

Just did AA catless headers and also have the PE, ya it's pretty loud but oh my god the glorious sounds it makes.

Yeah, secondaries followed by a resonator.

Did the SS section 1 cat delete pipe just bolt on with the exhaust clamp? Would it be hard to swap the cats back for visual smog inspection. I really want to do this to my n51 but am worried I won't pass smog.

That's a beautiful 128i. Wow you did well. I'm thinking of adding the SS section 1 pipe to my SS section 2 + BMW PE, but I think it might be TOO loud...

That is a gorgeous 1er. I have a white one as well. I picked it up 5 months ago. I had to give up on finding the perfect spec. I found one M Sport available in the country. White. Stepstronic auto w/ halogen. I threw a M4 replica carbon spoiler on it. Limo tint the back windows and now I'm considering getting it tuned. How did this mod turn out? Might be something I consider in the future.

My car has catless headers into full straight pipe. I can tell you from experience when the car had muffler, resonator and secondary cats gone that the SES was NOT on. NEVER threw a SES until I had the headers on, which triggered SES right away. I suggest getting those cat deletes if you want a bit more tone up top and burble between shifts/decel. Car went STUPID loud when headers were on and nothing to muffle the noise. I did the cheap route and had a custom exhaust fabbed up by a shop, but feel free to do the "right" thing and get a section 1. Lovely car OP, but quite frankly I prefer the "peasant" spec lol. My car came with the options I wanted: BiXenons, M Sport, no Nav, Manual Sport seats with bolster. Didn't want the sunroof at first, but started using it a lot haha.
