Tire upgrade for stock 1M wheels

I would like to upgrade the tires on my 1M to Michelin Pilot Super Sports and retain the factory wheels. I am thinking 255 or 265/35/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears. Can anyone provide any input what larger tire sizes have been used with the factory 19x 9 & 10 wheels ?

FYI: 265/35/19s up front will rub (top of fender liner), stay with 255/35

You can check Tirerack as far as dimensions and proper available sets that'll fit, the rear 10s can do 295/30 (as 285 is not available in the PSSs).

Use this to see how your speedometer reading will change once you move from stock sizing

Does a 255 / 295 setup require spacers front or rear ?

You can get 265/30 for the front in PSS. Not sure if it will rub though.

265/30r19 F and 295/30r19 R sounds like a good combo, if it fits.

How do you know they will rub? Have you tried specific tire in that specific size? Just wondering if that actual tire has been confirmed to rub. Thanks!

From the michelin website

Stock PS2's:
245/35/19 - diameter = 25.8"
265/35/19 - diameter = 26.3"

PSS:
255/35/19 - diameter = 26.0"
265/30/19 - diameter = 25.3"
265/35/19 - diameter = 26.3"
295/30/19 - diameter = 26.0"

265/30r19 F and 295/30r19 R shouldn't rub the top of the fender liner due to the smaller diameter than stock, but they are beeefy and better suited for a 9.5"/10.5" rim combo.

I should clarify, I was referring to a 265/35/19 PS2 tire, that does rub. I have not tried with the same size for a PSS, but as you can see the diameters as given by TR are the same, so there is nothing to indicate moving from a PS2 to a PSS in that size (265/35/19 up front) will cure the rubbing. And it is not a matter of a fender roll (those are done courtesy of the factory, contrary to the 135i), it rubs top of the fender inner liner. So if a PS2 rubs, I think it is a safe bet the PSS will rub, as if anything, it is a lot more square tire than the PS2 (the edges don't seem to curve as much as on the PS2s, but rather more of a square setup like the Bridgestone RE-11s)

I am definitly going wider on the next set of tires. First and most of second gear is kind of a joke right now. Here's what I found on Tirerack. All prices are before shipping.

Here's the 3 or 4 best options as I see them:

265/30ZR19 XL Michelin Pilot Super Sport
295/30ZR19 XL Michelin Pilot Super Sport
$1568

265/30ZR19 XL Continental ExtremeContact DW
285/35ZR19 Continental ExtremeContact DW
$1064

265/30ZR19 XL Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
295/30ZR19 XL Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
$1044

265/30ZR19 XL Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
285/30ZR19 XL Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
$1012

The Michelins PSS seem to be the uncontested best of the best. At 50% more cost than the other options though it may not be worth the money to some. Between the other two it seems the Contis are a bit better. But with the Hankooks you can get to the 295 width in the rear.

I have a few months to go before I need new shoes. I'm hoping some other folks try a few of these out in the mean time!

Robert, here are some statistics perhaps to help you in your decision when it comes time for it (at least from a dimension standpoint):

Stock fitment front: 245/35/19
Sidewall: 3.4
Radius: 12.9
Diameter: 25.8
Circumference: 80.9
Revs/Miles: 783

Going to 265/30/19
Sidewall: 3.1
Radius: 12.6
Diameter: 25.3
Circumference: 79.4
Revs/Miles: 798

Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.9% too fast (when traveling and your speedo is reading 60mph, you are actually going 58.9mph)

Going to 255/35/19
Sidewall: 3.5
Radius: 13
Diameter: 26
Circumference: 81.8
Revs/Miles: 775

Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.1% too slow (when traveling and your speedo is reading 60mph, you are actually going 60.6mph)

*******************

Stock fitment rear: 265/35/19
Sidewall: 3.7
Radius: 13.2
Diameter: 26.3
Circumference: 82.6
Revs/Miles: 767

Going to 295/30/19
Sidewall: 3.5
Radius: 13.0
Diameter: 26.0
Circumference: 81.6
Revs/Miles: 777

Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.3% too fast (when traveling and your speedo is reading 60mph, you are actually going 59.2mph)

Going to 285/30/19
Sidewall: 3.4
Radius: 12.9
Diameter: 25.7
Circumference: 80.8
Revs/Miles: 784

Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 2.2% too fast (when traveling and your speedo is reading 60mph, you are actually going 58.7mph)

You can get the extremecontact DW in 285/30/19, but tirerack recently dropped that size from their site last week. It's still available on other sites though.

Why wouldn't you guys just go one size bigger all around with the PSS's
From:
F: 245/35/19
R: 265/35/19
To:
F: 255/35/19
R: 275/35/19
This way you are keeping the same ratio between front and rear as stock but still getting more rubber down.

Due to mad amounts of rubbbing as someone already pointed out. (in the front especially)

I can't recall reading anywhere above that a 255 had a "mad amount of rubbing"

The PSSs are fairly new and Michelin is continuing to make more sizes available. I am hoping 285/30 is one of them!

255/35R19 PSS will rub(we have mounted this upgrade on a customer's 1M, 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear PSS) on the exhaust vents of the oil and water cooler first at and near full steering lock before it will rub on the top of the fender liner(this can only happen if you lower your car too much, at stock or 1" lowering there is not enough compression travel for this to happen).

Does the pictured car have any spacers on the wheels?

No, just the upgraded tires and wheel studs and nuts.

TC Kline Racing Double Adjust coilover system is next.

So you're saying that 255/35/19 will rub in the front on stock suspension?
