New Member: 2013 135i M-Sport 6 Speed Manual

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself and share a couple pictures of my new (to me) 2013 135i M-Sport 6 Speed Manual! I was extremely lucky to find this car only 10 miles away from my house. The next closest MANUAL 135i was 200 miles away in Fairfax Virginia. I plan on visiting this site often to look for ideas and help on any projects/problems that I may encounter. I rarely post on these forums because I can usually find what I am looking for using the search function. I already used the DIY section to replace all 4 rotors and pads this past weekend.

Maybe some of you will recognize the picture below because this car was actually for sale on here a few months ago.

It is currently on the winter wheels and tires until we stop getting snow/freezing temperatures. Hopefully, only another 2 weeks.

Comparison with my father's 2008 335xi. The picture is a little distorted due to the wide angle lens.

EBC Redstuff brake pads, StopTech slotted front rotors, and Zimmerman blank rear rotors. It's amazing how big the front calipers are!

Looks great! Fantastic find!
As the name implies, the 1er is truly addictive.
Welcome.
Any other mods besides the brakes?

Thank you!

The previous owner installed black kidney grills and weather tech floor mats.

The car is still under the CPO Warranty until September so I probably won't do any performance mods until next spring. Shortly, I think I will order a catch can and maybe a carbon fiber lip spoiler. The factory lip spoiler is kind of disappointing since it's just a bump.

I also signed up for a PDE at the Pittsburgh International Raceway May 18th. I am excited to see how it does!

Welcome! Car looks really nice and great job finding a manual. You're gonna love it at the PDE but I bet you're also going to want to do suspension work immediately afterwards lol.

Also the front rotors aren't that big, you just have small hands.......

I kid lol took the same picture first time I did my brakes on the first 1er I owned!

Nice purchase and welcome to the forum.

The Brembo brake setup on these cars is one thing that drew me too them. Sadly, they don't seem to brake as well as they look, because they have a tendency to retain a lot more heat than a conventional Brembo BBK caliper. But they sure look awesome, and I love that mine are color matched to the body.

You caught me! Everything is pretty big when you're only 5'4" and 130 pounds... I guess God just decided to give me a bigger "weight reduction" advantage compared to everyone else? lol. Mainly why I wanted a 135i over say an E92. I just disappear when someone looks into my father's car from the side when I am in it.

I am very excited for the PDE day and I guess I will find out what suspension changes I will want to make. What changes have you made to your suspension and which ones do you recommend or where should I start?

Also, my past 2 cars were an E46 330xi and E90 335xi. The 135i already handles so much better than both of them and I am glad to finally be done with AWD!

Thank you! I agree, the Brembo Brakes did also draw my attention to the 135i. I was going through the DIY section I saw a thread on how to replace the pistons. Hopefully only doing 1-3 track days per year does not destroy them.

Haha you're almost the perfect driver size, I think the average for pros is like 5'7 and 140-150lbs. I have the height at 6'3" but I'm skinny as hell lol, 160lbs

Same here. I was initially kinda disappointed the brakes don’t hold up to serious abuse (along with the strong understeer) but I didn’t really buy this car for that purpose.

I don't think you need to worry about that. A different set of brake pads can actually work wonders with these calipers.
