Auto to MT swap?

Anyone doing this? Auto slipping out of 5th. Maybe an excuse to put a MT in it.

There's a few who have done it, I believe rominun is one of them ('vert DCT to MT)

Yep, successfully completed my second manual swap for a friend. Just bought a single turbo 335 with an auto and will most likely need to swap it, but i might go down the dct route. lmk, i can guide you step by step.

Did this in my old e36. And as far as I know Bmw makes it easy because they leave the cut outs for the clutch. If you're buying a used tranny, swap the clutch. New master cylinder. NO CDV!

yep, i posted one and got bombarded on with just selling the car and buying a new one. i bought my car salvage and got a deal on it and pretty sure not many people would want to have a high mileage salvaged n54, so i found some forum member who sold me the whole swap off a wrecked 135 for 1000, i snagged a smfw and 335is clutch for 300$ and went on my way.

Plus when you factor in selling off your DCT trans, I bet it makes the cost much easier to swallow

Question for people with the DCT.

Why are you switching? The DCT is so much faster the manual in shifting, even with the weight difference it's faster in a straight line.

I have manual and wouldn't trade it for anything. Just curious. Thanks!

I guess I can chime in. I loved the DCT when daily driving the car. Ease of use. Manual mode is fun.

But now that it's a fun weekend car it just doesn't provide much engagement or fun factor that a manual gives you.

I LOVE the DCT. When I bought my car, I was commuting about 60 miles a day in stop and go traffic, so I wanted an auto. Funny, because right after I bought it, my commute turned into 10 miles a day from work. Plus I may be getting a daily in the near future, so the 1 can turn into a real toy

Anyone still on this thread? I've got a 2013 135i vert with a DCT that shifts bad with AC on. I've tried all the normal fixes and just want a manual like God intended. Looks like the Rominum fellow got banned. Anyone have any current info or write-ups on the process of doing a swap?

Thanks!

When you say you've tried all the normal fixes, I assume you've done the adaptations resets. This typically will correct the issue you're talking about.

But I'm following this thread which may be another answer to fixing this problem:

https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1737093

I'm tempted to try it but not crazy about the initial after flash issues. I hope the process gets cleaned up as I would love to try it.

Yeah, I've had the adaptations reset. One thing I haven't tried is offloading the Dinan software to see if that solves it. Either way I'm interested in learning about the swap process if anyone has successfully done it.
