As was posted, there are tons of quick cars these days. The original poster asked about FBO. As you'll know if you are FBO, the problem below 60 MPH is not power, it's traction. About the only not known to be fast cars that will makes a FBO 135 look bad 0-60 is another forced induction car that is also modded (or a TeslaS). That also assumes you cut off a stage or two of traction control and preferably also have a LSD.

Most people don't think our cars should be fast, so that also helps if someone does blow you away. Past 60, which only takes around 3 seconds, you can let off since you've proved your point, you don't street race, and that's when the heavy much higher HP car will start to eat you up. If you want to run with those cars you just need more mods.

Oh yeah every fool on the road can maximize the performance capability of a 500hp supercar. Just because someone has a high performance car doesnt mean they can drive it well.

I'm not much of a street racer but the only cars my 1er has lost to was a FBO Evo 8 and a modded LT1 C7 vette. The S550 V8 stangs cant keep up past 3rd gear .

Like the previous posters said the issues with these cars is traction/tire width or lack thereof.

I must drive like a whimp. I get 320-360 miles per tank

What is the range of power from a FBO car? Anywhere from 350-450rwhp I am guessing???

450rwhp and 3300lbs is pretty solid. Most big power cars weigh around 3800lbs, so I would think you need about 500whp in a bigger car to run down a 450whp 135i.

However, two other factors. Traction off the line and drag coefficient on the big end. Look at a C5 Vette, 350hp is not too impressive but it will do 175 because its so slippery.

These days it's actually pretty fucking easy. The hardest part of the process is putting the car into it's top performance modes for the engine and transmission. After that all you have to do is keep the pedal mashed and the car pointed in the desired direction of travel. We're not talking about lapping the Nurburgring.

And seriously, this is the E60 M5 we're talking about here, a car that has a serious amount of electronic systems keeping things in line. Did you know the S85 was one of the first engines to eliminate the use of knock sensors via passing a low voltage signal through the spark plugs mere milliseconds after the plugs had fired? Fascinating. BMW called it Ionic Current.

I did not.
Never found any papers on that. Have lots from Saab, Mitsubishi and mfg not mentioned college/SAE papers.
Now I'll have to look for the BMW ones too.

You are giving people way too much credit, not only do most people suck at driving, let alone handling a 500hp car, its also the balls to push it to its maximum.

The E60 M5 at max HP & Throttle response in MDM mode still requires skill to handle even in a straight line race from standstill.

If your ever in CT, RI, MA let me know, I will beat you to 120 by 3 seconds to redeem the E60 M5 legacy.
