Is the a way to tell real leather (LEDER BOSTON) E82 seats from sensatec seats aside from doing a vin check ? and which seats are more durable ?

I can usually tell by pinching it...the boston leather is usually thicker and less pliable.

Sensatec door cards lack the stitching through the middle that leather cards have. Sensatec feels disgusting and they always grow tears on the outside drivers thigh bolster, always. I've had both, trust me

It is pretty obvious when you actually look at it. And sensatech will crack eventually.

My E30 had "leatherette" and it was still perfect after 27 years. My 128 has sport sensatec and is still perfect. Altho car is a 2008, it's always winter stored so more likely the usage of a 2011. It has only 60K miles. This winter I'll be applying Aerospace 303 to the seats.

I've had both, each have their pros and cons. Best pro for sensatec is wear, scuffs and fading. my e46 had it and looked great at 135k.

Both my e88's had/have Boston leather pros thick surface, smells great and luxury. both cars w/areas wrinkled and worn faded marks by 40k

I don't notice heat or breath ability difference.

So is it worth switching to Boston leather or no ?

Buying a car new or used I wouldn't eliminate a car for having it when I'm in the market. all in all leather costs more for a reason, leatherette looks better longer. Mrs Tux wants leather... so ahhh I'll have to talk to my wife!
