"So please... Set aside all your silly logic and reasoning. Join us in a happy place where we can have a smaller, lighter car with great factory power and incredible tuning potential."

LOL, ok, ok, Pass the pipe please. Do you think a 135i could actually have a sub 4.0 sec 0-60, with current readings of the 335i hovering around 4.6? Imagine that?

I am with you, wishing and hoping, and praying it will be mine, ba, ba, bada ba ...

I thought about that too...haha. Think about it this way, Porsche has the 911 Turbo and the GT3. They both are faaast as hell. I've read numerous articles where the 911 TT is just a fast soul-less beast. But the GT3 is fast but it has more soul, and u actually feel like your connected to the car.

But the quickest I've seen the 335i's go to 60 in a magazine is 4.8seconds. The highest 5.3 So lets just say the 1 will do in in 4.7-5.3 seconds. They could actually give the 135i 300hp instead of around 350(what a lot of 335i's are actually putting out.)

Plus its okay for the 1 to do high 4's to 60. The M5 and M6 do around 4.2seconds and more than likely so will the new M3. The M1 should join the low 4's party also. <---- Boy cars are getting too fast. :headbang:

at about 200lbs lighter i'd expect to shave off about 2 tenths. but a tuned 135 could i think get close to 4.0. btw, who got 4.6? i i recall seeing sub 5.0 but didn't realize they were getting quite that low?

I don't remember right now, but I will admit that it was not the factory setting, but from what I remember they did not have tinker too much with it.

Perma-grin

Mid-to-low 4 second times 0-60 sound great to me. And the incredible thrust that should be available from 60-80 and beyond is also exciting. (I just spent some track time in a Steeda Mustang Cobra, so torque and acceleration are on my mind right now.)

But what really excites me about this car is the combination of power, relatively low weight and handling prowess. Can't wait to hit a twisty road in it.

It should:
  1. turn in smartly
  2. take power early
  3. come off the corner like a little rocket
  4. blast down the straight
  5. slow easily
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 until you're worn out from grinning.

Sub-4 or low 4s would be ridiculously amazing..
For sceptics - WRX and EVO opened up a totally new market for performance cars..
Imagine BME doing that with 1 series.. I can see HOnda s2000, Mazda RX8 and others scrambling to get their power, chasis and handling up to par with 1 series..
If not for 135, then next gen STi for me ($35k, around 3200lb, 320+ hp/torque, good tuning potential, etc)
