I had the 16-35 II and sold it. Infact I sold most of my glass, including my 85 F1.2 & 24-70. Only glass I have these days is my trusty 35mm F1.4 - the workhorse and suits 95% of my photography. Enjoy the 16-35, great lens!

The 24-70 is a different lens to the 24-105. 16-35 for your above night shoots would have worked better for you as you can go wider and drop your shutter even more with the added advantage of a complete stop more.. but I think you've pulled off some stunning shots with IS and half a sec - congrats I'd be MORE than happy with those !

Lovely work, Simon. The Raffles bar looks very inviting, and the "Eye" - wow! What a sight that must be!

I'll check out your sites tomorrow sometime. If you'd like to see any of my work, it's all at www.flickr.com/photos/coreysphotos

Would love any feedback/tips/suggestions!

I recently bought myself a Canon 40D, and 4 L series lenses. It's a fun hobby, but geez it's expensive!

Here's one of my favourite photos. There's a fair bit of noise, but I think it adds to the mood of the shot:

I went to order the car thinking $500 should be enough for the deposit. The sales consultant took it to his manager and came back telling me for a build, they need a min of $5000 deposit. Brought the remaining amount the next arvo.

KL looks awesome. The contrast between the buildings and construction site looks cool.

I didn't have it then . I umm'd and arr'd over the f4 of the 24-105 vs the f2.8 of the 24-70, but figured the extra reach would be more beneficial than the extra stop (especially consider the excellent PQ at 1600 ISO). I'm pretty happy with the results.

I am happy, yeah. I'm lucky in that I have been pretty good at breath control and bracing still when taking low light shots, they usually work out.

I haven't 'done' the 16-35 shots yet, used it first at Petronas Towers in KL, will chuck a few up when done.

Ahh, bugger it, here're two:

Okay, I can't count.

I'm not happy with any from the Skywalk yet, too many reflections off the glass and it'd just poured, so the glass was wet and dirty, but I'll get over it . Here's one of the best:

Sorry guys, someone pushed my buttons. Time to go and cook dinner now!

Great work on the sky in the tower shots, did you pull back the highlights a bit? I found most of the time in Asia I struggled to really get all the dynamic range with the sky always being so blown...

Where is this food place you mentioned? I just came back from KL a few weeks back myself. Where did you stay?

As for deposit, they are asking for a Ferrari/Lambo style deposit. You pay $5k deposit, then 10% when build slot is confirmed. It's justified on a car like that where the dealer would have trouble moving the car if you decide to cancel, but on a 1 series that is just a bit rich!!! I too paid $1k.

I paid 5k deposit too. Didn't really think twice about it to be honest but I know my mate who bought a 599 paid a 10k deposit so probably a little out of whack.

I don't think so, will check when I get home. I usually have exposure compensation set to -1/3, so perhaps that's why. Otherwise I tend to get blown highlights and you can usually rescue under-exposure, vs over exposure .

It's the other way around - removing light is easier then adding it You are best to overexpose, then underexpose

I suppose what I meant to say is that if I leave it on +/-0, I tend to get the over-exposure warning on highlights. If I set to -1/3, I don't. So, I usually leave it that way. Lazy, yeah.

Here's an interesting article on 'exposing to the right': http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...se-right.shtml

Just a quick note on the deposit, thanks for all the comments. It's been resolved to my satisfaction for now. Can't say any more.
