Thanks JW.
The injectors came in a sealed plastic bag from ESS, and I looked again but there is no identifying information on the inhouse label other than that they are injectors for the Gen 2 S/C. |

Awesome Sdracing! Glad that they sorted everything out. Please keep us updated! Is your car by chance an N51?

My car is in fact a N51.
I pushed on her a little harder today - 95 degrees with a/c going - it felt strong. And absolutely a lot more fun. I'm going to go with a P3 with boost to see what it's reading at the throttle body. |

To do that do you need to tap into the throttle body and run a hose to the P3 gauge? I assume the MAP sensor on the manifold does not read boost?

Very cool. Would you show some more pictures of the parts and install if you have them?

How much wheel HP do you expect from this upgrade, i am very interested.
My 130i has 265hp and the maximun we can get is arround 275hp with a chip. So turbocharger is the only option to really increase the power. How mutch is the fuel economy?. |

Correct. Installing a Boost gauge should be relatively simply. There is a vacuum line on the very top of the throttle body. I believe you can tap into it there for an accurate boost reading. I think you can tap into that same line closer to the fire wall and by the interior air filter. I'll post pictures of when I do it. Right now it looks like a P3 Obd and boost gauge is the way to go. I confirmed with P3 that if you buy the OBD version, you can also get the boost sensor and that plugs into the gauge.

Can't think where the vacuum line is on the top of the throttle body, never noticed it. Do you know what it is used for on the stock car? |

Sorry, I've been busy with work...... The CPU seems to be normalizing - although its having a hard time figuring out idle. I haven't had the opportunity to drive the car a lot lately and am still trying to get 200 miles on it.
Reliability is good. The power seems inconsistent at this point. Some times when you gun it, its very fast. Other times its sort of ho-hum. Also, the clutch delay seems much more pronounced. Edit: The stalling issue was never sorted out so I had to take off the kit and return it. I paid for the install and de-install and then got charged a ridiculous re-stocking fee for a kit that never worked. Last edited by Sdracing; 11-29-2017 at 04:17 PM.. |

Yea that is something I found odd as well. I looked at some previous threads with the ESS M3's and it seems like the idle hunting was caused by the coils/spark plugs. SD may want to take a look/replace.

But similar issues have been seen in the past on the ESS N52 kit when it was first released....is it still the tune not perfected or something else with the base car...

The N52 does not have secondary cats, no charcoal filter, and a single stage manifold. Both make the same horsepower and torque figures. The N51's are more problematic because it requires the MAF to run SC kit. The N52 you can run the Alpha N tune without using the MAF.

Honestly, in reviewing this review (I quoted below),it sounds like its dead on.
"ESS Super Charger Update... I am done! Continuous check engine lights, Idle hunting and stalling, hesitation and stalling as I try to accelerate from a stop. I am taking my car back to the shop on Monday to have my new fuel pump replaced under warranty because of a bad sending unit and I am having the supercharger removed. I will be have approximately $1,400 in labor for the supercharger install and removal, which I will attempt to recoup from ESS Tuning. And yes, I am F'n pissed off, as the hesitation and stalling has almost resulted in two accidents." Last edited by Sdracing; 11-29-2017 at 04:18 PM.. |
