On a 1999 Subaru WRX. Find one that someone's already done all the hard work on, get someone who knows subaru's to look over it and make sure they've done the common items that break.

It'll cost you less, be more fun, and leave your 128i for dead.

Keep the 128i as your daily driver. It's comfortable and reliable. The WRX is not

I’d keep it in the bank. Never know when you might need it for real life. Enjoy the 128 for what it is. If that’s not enough, upgrade to a 135i.

Eh, on a more serious note: if OP really wants to spend money on mods, I'd look into suspension and good non-RFT tires for sure.

I'll take a shot - what is your goal? Fun daily driver? Some limited HPDE days? comfort cruiser?

People in the thread are questioning your priorities as you have an automatic model, which is one thing. But that does not necessarily preclude you from attending a driving school or two.

Honestly, just get rid of the run flats first - you'll get an improvement in ride quality and depending on the tire you get better grip possibly. After that, you really need to be able to answer my first question very clearly before anyone would give you advice.

$2500? If you must spend it on the car and ignore the hookers/blow suggestions already mentioned, I'd buy an extended warranty and enjoy the car for what it is.

I don't disagree, but you've got to start somewhere. I say this with eight years of competitive autox, several rallies, track schools, and various other things thrown in over the years. I'm more competent than I was when I started many years ago, but if I never got out on the track in the first place, I wouldn't be.

Don't understand your point on this one, i only have 7 hours on the track in novice and have gone from being one of the slower cars to one of the fastest. And it's a blast, and look forward to getting faster, and going into the faster groups. If you start at zero track experience, just an hour will teach you a tremendous amount. You don't have to be 'good' to have fun.

I think the 128i is a great car for the track, not too fast, not too slow, cheap to run. My $2500 would go to camber plates, dedicated tires for the track.
