From a 128 to a 135

Just traded in my 2008 128 vert for a space gray 2010 135. I think I need professional help.

I loved my 128, great handling and more than enough power for daily driving. But, oh what a difference 2 turbos make...

I do have a question that after searching around I can't seem to find a clear answer on - have the fuel pump issues on the 135 improved since the 2008 model?

Don't flame me too bad if this has already been answered and my search skills suck. Oh what the hell, go ahead and flame me.

They have been improved but they can still fail. Luck of the draw.

That's kind of what I gathered from looking around. It's improved... but not lol.

The fuel pump issue is completely blown out of proportion.

Pumps warranted for 100k miles. If it fails you will get the newest, improved pump.

Carry a cell phone. Make sure BMW SOS is working.

Enjoy your car.

I agree. A lot of people that are members here found this site because of the pump issue, making our statistics higher than the norm. I've talked to numerous 335i and 135i owners locally, and none have even heard of the issues. My dealer said they had one pump issue that he knew of, but the guy had been caught with a tuner mod. I'm not saying they haven't had more issues, but that is the only one that came to mind for him.

It is an issue, no doubt, just not as larger as it seems here.

HPFP failure is inevitable... It goes hand in hand with the N54 like peas and carrots. The sooner you accept this relationship the sooner you can put it behind you and enjoy you're 135i! My pump only put me out for 2 days and I still had an X5 to get me around town. For the rest of the time I can't wipe the cheesy grin from my face... It really is that good

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not sweating the fuel pump too much - if it happens then oh well, off to the dealership I go.

After 3 days of 135i ownership I'll say the first lesson I'm coming away with after driving a 128i is: be careful! On several occasions I've found myself going significantly faster than I intended due to driving my 135i like I drove my 128i. I guess because the cockpit and feel of the vehicles are so similar my driving habits are taking a bit longer to adjust to the extra power.

The second lesson? This car is going to be an absolute blast to own!
