Change the default dash display?
By default, my 135i displays the odometer at start up. I would like to change that so instant fuel econ is on the display immediately at every start up. Is that possible?

You could try PM-ing "Patrys" on the e90 forum. He does car coding and might be able to enlighten you (us). Dackel |

I had the digital speedometer coded today and for some reason when I start my car it displays the odometer even though the digital speedometer is the last thing I was viewing...

My car is a US spec 135i, build date Jan/2009. What ever I have the BC set to display... when I turn off the car and then back on... it will return to that menu. For example if I have it set to liters/100 kph (or MPG) when I restart the car... the BC will still be on liters/100kph reading.
Here is my M3 digital speedo display. You can switch it rom MPH to KPH by going into the BC settings.

My wife's '11 128i Convertible has the true-digital speedometer coding, and it stays on that setting unless we switch to something else. Whatever the last setting was before turning the car off, that's what comes up when started again.

This is what my instrument pannel looks like when I have it set to read how much fuel I am averaging/using. Liters/100 kph... The DSC was switched fully off here - to show you what the new DSC icon looks like when you have BMW latest SW level(that was from last year). I believe BMW has gone back to the little yellow circle with the arrow.

I'm thinking that if you have a DCT/auto the reason the digital speedometer shows up the way mine does is because there has to be space for the P, R, N, D... Where as with a manual it does not display the P, R, N, D... Can anyone confirm?

I have a manual. I think sometime in 2011 with DCT bmw changed the instrument display from the two lines to only one(display) like you guys have.

Now that I look at your dash and then mine it makes sense since the P, D, N, R need to be displayed somewhere right? I'm still trying to figure out why it doesn't retain what you were viewing last though before the car was shut off...
