I'm not sure. With the M kit as std. equipment on the 135i I'd say I'd be tempted to go in that direction. However I don't need to power nor the acceleration, at the same time I just love the M technik look, which won't be available with out having to cough up a big chunk of change to get it for the 128. What the heck am I saying all this for?!... Don't really know til I learn more about just what we're getting... just gets me excited though!

(if I'm reading this one entry correctly on the web, there are 2 N52 engines) If one of you guys knows exactly perhaps what would really be helpful is a side-by-side graph with specs. The other thing is...the twin-turbo definitely is going to be the burner, but it's a heavy engine in a small car, so....which is going to handle better? How about fuel efficiency between the two?...surely that will sway some opinions- at least provide some food for thought. I think there's more to consider here... more factors than what I had first thought. There may very well be a very good arguement for the superiority of the 2.8 over the 3.5! |

Well - reading the available material seems to indicate that the 135i will have a 50/50 weight distribution. Now, if they had to put a cubic foot hunk of tungsten where the spare tire should have been to get that balance . . . ; -)

As long as it passes the "in person" test. I will get the 135i for sure...

Wow
Great forum, just found it. Been looking forward to hearing what BMW would do with the 1 here in NA for a long time.
Only car that could temp me from my E36 M3. Will probably wait a bit, let the initial wave of over MSRP sales happen, see if they will come out with a full M1. But VERY interesting...

I lust for a 135i but it's going to depend on price. If it creeps deep into the mid 30s I don't see myself springing for one. It would be nice to have a 123d to choose from as well.

I was planning to buy a black 123d but I guess I'll have to go for a 120d since the 123d costs 6ke more than the 3dr 120d in Germany and will likely cost 10k more in here Finland. Also I think I'll go for a red one (btw what is the red color of the undisguised coupe called?)

An Alpine White BMW 120ci (4 cylinder, 170bhp) with black leather/orange cloth and brushed aluminium trim interior and M-Pack for me, when it arrives in Europe. Just because the 135i will proximately cost around 53000 Euros in Greece!:frown:

I just want something that will replace all of my dearly departed e36 M3s. Depending on how much a 128i weighs, it may be the closest in terms of power to weight than the 135i. Also, I have driven of few of the turbo engines and I do not like the lag (some people say it doesn't exist, but I can feel it especially after NA and supercharged cars).
I also think that the 135i may be taking it a bit too far, ala M6. Driven the new M6? It is not any fun unless you are winding it out which quickly gets you into less than legal territory. I will definitely test drive them both, and I would prefer an M packed 128i. Actually, I think there was no reason to go with a 135i in the first place. I would have liked to see the entry level 1 be a 180hp or so 4 cylinder with the 128i as the top. I really miss my 240hp e36 M3s. In any case, I will be holding onto my 323 convertible until next spring in preparation for the 1. Hopefully that will put me into prime convertible selling season and the 1 intro. |

It's really price dependant for me. If I can get a 135 at a reasonable price then I will likely go that route provided the N54 has had its issues worked out by next Summer. I plan on doing euro delivery and I can swing a 135 if it starts around 33. I don't plan on adding many options, metallic paint, logic 7 and the cold weather package more then likely since the car already comes with the sport pack. A 128 will be plenty fast for me though and if it is a lot more affordable with the M sport pack and the above options I'd go that route instead.
I'd rather drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow =) Mike |

If that's the case, and depending on the deals being on offer at the stealership, getting into a 128 is beginning to seem the likely choice for me. |
