The factors are:

How desperate is the salesman to make the sale?

How desperate is the dealer to clear it from the lot?

Both will determine how close to invoice you can get.

That's why you may catch some salesman on the last selling day on a short month to be more eager to deal. But I don't think there are many starving BMW sales people. So unless you live in an area that has a bad economy, I doubt you get get too much off MSRP.

Yup depends on a lot of things..on the sales side, depends on if there are certain targets for bonuses.

Other factors can include out-of-market sales... I almost always get a better deal buying "out of market" - some dealers love getting "bonus" sales from people not in their regular trade area.

Hell, I have this same mentality with my business. If some guy in Vancouver wants to buy a product off me at 10-15% less than I would sell locally, why not? Any profit on that sale is still profit I'd never normally get.

what dealer did you buy your 128i from?
mine won't even discount a cent, he told me 128i is a hot and new item, therefore no discount.
and the trade-in value for my car he gave me was way to low to be accepted....
can someone recommend me to your dealership please??

Two dealers offered me the same discount. It's all money to them in the end, take your business to someone who's prepared to share with you. Oh and don't get me into trouble
