I'm in no way affiliated with that yellow bird 1M project. I merely posted the pictures with the link to the source (http://hinnation.com/2013/04/fresh-impact-bmw-1m/), as I usually do. It seems that one of the admins modified my post earlier today (optimized the thread title, included the mods referenced in the thread of origin and deleted the thread of origin reference). Subsequently this thread surfaced on Bimmerpost.

1M or a 1M lookalike ? If it waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, then it's a duck. Most lookalikes keep the original dashboard. This one seems to feature indeed the 1M instrument panel and layout. Missing headlight washer nozzles ? Maybe they decided to leave these off during the wrap merely for design reasons, the wrap foil fancily covering the holes (though headlight washer nozzles are mandatory in Europe for cars equipped with Xenon lights). If it turns out to be a 1M lookalike body kit, then they virtually copied the 1M exterior ($$$ !).

Actually, if anyone would ever spot this car passing by (which is registered in Bucharest/Romania or Jakarta/Indonesia, someone posted in this thread - see http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=24 and http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=68
) without the possibility to check the big cookie inside the engine bay, simply check the underside for the presence or absence of the ///M Limited Slip Differential (the ///M's dangly bit hanging between the rear wheels): if that part is missing then it's definitely no 1M (admitted, it would be very silly to fit some sort of dummy LSD). None of the (over rendered) pictures allows to check for the presence/absence of this ///M tell-tale part.

Let's give the owner of this nice car the benefit of the doubt. Anyways, whatever BMW species it really is, kudos to him/her for the nice job done.

I have the wheels on my car. 7.2kg front and 7.5kg rear. If you search around they are about same price as the FIs - just over 2k each wheel. It uses a 7 series aluminium so both stronger and lighter.

If you are spending that much you should also consider the Carbonrev wheels currently only fits GT3 though.

There's a AW 1M at my dealership for sale but more than a new M3.. tough choice..
