I just noticed that my dash had an indentation yesterday. Oh well, I can live with it. Either way, I have 3 1/2 more years to decide if I wanna take it in.

^ My thoughts too. My indentation is pretty small for now.

I had a small bubble (like this) --> () after about a month of owning my car.
Over time, it started to look like this --> |-------| It's bothersome if you look at it, but I'd rather have that than the storage bin. I don't really store things in my car anyway. Trunk, center console, even glove box are pretty much empty.

Has anyone heard if BMW has a fix for this besides replacing the dash?

Not that I've heard. Dealer just took note of the issue on last visit. Not prepared for the whole dash replacement. But it's not gotten any worse but can only imagine in the hot summer months it will.

Does this have anything to do with temperature inside the car?
I just noticed that I now have an indentation where the airbag is at in front of the passenger's seat. It's subtle, but it is noticeable. |

Dealer replaced my dash, and got the center compartment. Looks odd at first but I like it.
In fact, thats the reason why i changed the dash in the first place, the indentation really didn't bother me. |

I had my dash replaced this past summer under warranty. I too had the dash indentation. Anyhow, since the replacement I have not had any rattles or problems to report with the install and it has been a few months now. The indentation has not reappeared. Granted, I now have the storage bin which has become somewhat useful despite my distaste for it originally. I took a chance here...concern was the indentation would just reappear but luckily it has not and fingers are crossed. It is my hope BMW already addressed the indentation issue with these new dash boards.

I have the indentation but it's not that bad so I'll live with it a bit longer until it gets worse. I believe this will be harder to be replaced here in our local dealerships in Australia as they try to get out of everything.
Also, the storage bin comes stock standard on Aussie spec cars that do not have idrive. |

I lived with my car in SoCal for over a year and never saw this....
The second it started getting cold in Chicago, there it was. I think it definitely comes and goes with the temperature inside the cabin. I sure as hell don't want that cubby in my dash. |

so i took my car in to BMW monrovia and they saw the indentation. They said that someone else brought their car in before for this situation too and it was another 1 series. The maintence dude said there was another dash there in the back but they scheldule me to go in on jan 6th. So i will go then and get it taken care of.

ok, i'm letting my dealer replace my dash. i worries me for some reason but one of the incentives is i have had a rattle develop on the drivers side dash so possibly a 2 birds 1 stone situation
