I’ll take a 1M straight up, thank you very much.

HANDS DOWN BEST thing I've ever seen written on 1 addicts

That's hillarious man, please tell me you made that up. I can hear almost hear Jeremy Clarkson saying something like that

I am another e92 m3 to 1M switch. I got rid of the m3 already now just patiently waiting for the 1M but this just made me very anxious !! Cant wait.

Not to be a part of the Me Too Crowd but I was particularly interested in this writeup since I've been wondering if I would have been better off with an E90 M3. It's hard to get past the SOUND of the M3 but that kind of MPG isn't really sustainable ... and I find the exhaust clips I hear on Youtube of the 1M satisfying enough, and potentially addictive. I am kind of surprised, though, at the reports of the nearly equivalent MPG of the N54 to the S65. All depends on how ... spirited one's driving is, I suppose.

I agree with the mileage. I recall seeing members here getting 27-29 mpg on thd highway during a long trip. I think Dan Parker was one of them.

That was a great review. Informative and fun to read.

But Captain Kirk... All your info is about Star Trek and you end with a comparison between Superman and Iron Man??? haha
If you don't mind me asking, are you a super Treky or were you involved with Star Trek in some way?
haha Just curious

my 2nd tank, all city driving (NY city driving is a little different from everywhere else lol), was 17 mpg. 3rd tank was 21 mpg 80/20 City/Hwy

in comparison, doing the same driving, i was never able to get above 13 mpg in a e92 m3 in all city driving and 19 mpg 80/20 city/highway

Great review. Having driven the MT M3 at Laguna Seca and the DCT M3 at M school, I was going to buy one until I found out about the 1M at the end of 2010. Placed my order in March and will finally take delivery on Wednesday. Still found myself wondering from time to time if I should have gotten the M3. However, I just drove my friends brand new DCT M3 two days ago. It reminded me of just how great the M3 is, but also made me remember why I decided to go with the 1M. For all those reasons you mention above, I can't wait until wednesday.

Love the write up. Better than many of the pro articles. You just made my wait for my VO 1M that much more painful. Thanks.

Thanks!

I am in your boat. I sold my E92 6MT M3 because it was uninvolving and frankly kind of boring and too big. My DD is an E46 6MT M3 which I bought new, but was owned by my father for 3 years till I bought it back in january. I prefer the visceral feel of the E46 and like that is hard to drive well. When I get my 1M it will be my DD but I will keep the E46 too as my "beater".

Can you write about your feelings re: 1M vs E46 M3?
