Is that at PIR? I checked their site earlier and the cost was ~900. Plus maintenance check paperwork, fresh brake fluid, etc.

As am I (with my son, who'll be driving his 20-year-old 330Ci). Perhaps I'll see you there.

Yes, at PIR, but "only" $375 for the 19/Apr HPDE. Helmet rental and tech inspection not included. (Nor fluids, pads, tires, bushings, dent repair, bent wheels, ... YMMV on that list ).

Fingers crossed. Travel plans may intervene, but then I'll just have to find another date later in the year. I didn't trust 9/Mar for weather conditions, so I didn't even sign up.

I heard a probably wrong rumor long ago that they'd tow your poor wreck to the street so you could claim you weren't racing..

Yeah - I'm thinking June / July so no contending with a potentially wet track.

I found one track way out in the middle of nowhere in eastern Oregon. I suppose it's usually dry.

In comparison you can drive to the Nurburgring & spend 30 euros per lap. As long as you're not behind on maintenance or outside of Germany... They didn't even ask for my license at the ticket both. If you don't push ur car 100% & stay under three laps then it should not cost you anything extra besides fuel. They too have HPDE & rentals of course but I'm too broke for that so I'd say I already learned my racing lines starting with NFS on PlayStation when I was 5.

Hockenheim ring is closer for me. I think in the US you have way more frequent events, & drag strips but we got Autobahn.

Took out my old vinyl wrap on my interior trim and replaced it with VViViD tek r black gloss carbon. I think it looks great, however in direct sunlight you can tell it's a wrap. I'm still pretty happy with it other than the switches on the steering wheel push back a little on the wrap. I have a ton of scrap pieces if anyone wants a sample. Also did the 50th anniversary M roundel on hood.

Some day.

Alternatively, there's Everyday Driver's annual Pilgrimage trips to Spa and The Ring. Not really the same price class, but if I ever get approval from the Minister of Finance...

New front wheel speed sensors. My car eats a pair every couple years due to all the sand on the roads here.

The Nordschleife is definitely on my bucket list. Probably wonít get to drive it in anything but a track rental, but to do it in my 1er would be a dream

And I wish we could have version of the Autobahn in the US, but 95% of drivers here donít have the lane discipline for something like that to work. And TUV too, so many cars are falling apart on the road and nobody seems to care

Heh...
I just yesterday had the rear driver's side go south (intermittent warnings). Fun way to start the day.

Gonna clean it all first and test for effect.... not holding my breath, but the past failures have all been straight fails, not intermittent sooooooooo........, maybe??

((Me heads for rockauto....))

Ohhhhh, and in other news The Wife drove the 1er all last week for work and now she's making sounds along the lines of "Damn!! That thing is toooo much fun we can't sell it!"

Now I'm wondering if maybe the 135i values might start to go up for real, not just that covid induced fever dream that effected used car prices the past few years... ahhh, it'll probably be another 20 years before that starts up.

What kind of warnings did you get for speed sensor? I think I ve seen the DSC (Dinamic Stability Control) shadow error at times when I read codes on mine. Is this same thing or something else?

Mine just straight fail. Went so bad once I lost my speedo for a bit. I always try cleaning them but it never works. FCP FTW.

I had one fail intermittently - I'd randomly get the brake christmas tree on the dash and it would clear itself. It gradually became worse, until the cable finally failed entirely.

It's a super easy job to swap it out.

I swapped out my interior and trunk lights for LED bulbs. I overpaid for the upgrade kits from BMW.

The LEDs are much brighter and closer to pure white than the orange-y incandescent bulbs. So the result is a bit of a mixed bag: the interior light looks a bit harsh, but the added brightness is great for the reading lights and in the trunk.

Before my brain parsed your entire post, I thought, "He reads in the trunk? WTAF?"
