An open intake like the Injen can suffer from heat soak. Some e90 N52's even had power and torque loss in certain areas tested on the dyno. A closed box at least maintains the stock insulation while offering better flow. I live in California with constant 70-100 degree weather, so closed box for me.
mod*bargains has the Injen you want going for $360. You need to talk to a shop about the carbon fibre tips. Just search for them anywhere - google, ebay - and talk to a shop about putting that set on which ever exhaust setup you go with. |

Though I sense the focus of this thread is not performance.

I have the BMW performance intake and exhaust. They are on my 128 i 2008 convertible with six speed. Very nice combination and nice sound from the exhaust. Not too loud and very throaty.

Nope that is ARMASpeed n55/n54 dry carbon
Theyhave an e9x n52 version too. Their price is too much though for a pretty Eurobox, with the snorkel mimicking stock proportions. Also, their filters have some kind of flap that is like a DISA and made out of a metal mesh vs foam/ cloth etc

I definately noticed a performance difference after I installed my magnum force intake...which was after a Powerbox install and magnaflow catback. I got 1 check engine light which came up as a misfire. I cleared the light and it has never came back on. I have driven about 4k miles since I installed the intake. I will also add that I just passed 50k on the odometer so I think a plug change is about due, this may have been the cause of the misfire. |

Not sure about the si, but mine did not require a spacer. It came with an adapter that attatches to the throttle body so the intake tube fits correctly. Not sure if that's what u mean by spacer?

It wasn't something that shipped with it, you had to fab it yourself.

No there is a pre-existing port on the AFE intake tube. All u do is unplug and unscrew the factory MAF from the factory tube, then insert it into the port on the new tube and screw it in. Completely bolt on system. No fab, no mod.
reminder, I am talking about the AFE Magnum Force stage 2....not the SI. I have no experience with the SI, but the magnum force is completely bolt on ready to accept factory MAF. Last edited by 08_128i; 07-10-2013 at 10:34 AM.. |
