Engine Rattle (maybe from misplaced tools)

Removed air filter and now car starts rattling and misfiring.

Did something fall into the intake? How hard would it be to remove. I'm hearing a nasty clanky sound and car drives horribly.

Think dealership will fix this as "under warranty"?

I would definitely do a very thorough search and account for all tools and hardware before starting the engine again.

I don't imagine BMW will cover anything under warranty for user negligence.
