Now the 08s are cheaper, but if I were to sell it in a few years, will I lose more money in the end since it's a 1-year model? If I recall, there aren't many substantive differences between 08 and 09 other than the year moniker.
I just bought an '08 128i vert for 12% under MSRP and 0.9% financing for 60 months. Since I plan on keeping my car long-term, getting an '08 in December really didn't matter to me. The price savings made it a no-brainer to get an '08 and I was thrilled that my CA found the last car in the Western region equipped exactly how I wanted it, even though I had to wait a few days for shipping (not a big deal at all.)

Sure, my '08 cold weather package did not come with a heated steering wheel, but the fact that I have "Year One Of The 1" engraved around the start/stop button definitely makes up for that!

Love my new car and couldn't be happier with my experience!

Looks like you got a great deal. 12% under MRSP should be about 2% to 3% under invoice.

Congratulations!

Thanks! Actually, Niello BMW told me that invoice was about 7.5% under MSRP, so if that's accurate I got 4.5% under invoice.

Getting the car I want + good price + 0.9% financing = pure happiness!

That's a great price for ED. If you don't mind me asking, I would like to know which dealership in CA did you purchase from?

I agree that's a superb deal. This makes me wonder is it easier to score bigger percentages under MSRP the more options you tack on? In other words, do you think I could find a similarly discount % on a lightly optioned coupe? By lightly optioned I mean just Sport, Xenon and Ipod.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Oh and some Audi salesman is trying to sell me an A3 quattro turbo. If they can get the price anywhere near 30k I might jump on that. What do you guys think about the A3?

Well...one of the dealers I communicated with offered me a 128i convertible with only STEPTRONIC, metallic paint, satellite radio and iPod for 10% under MSRP and I think they might have took 12% under had I asked...so I think the discounts are somewhat similar, regardless of options.

Indeed a great deal, good options and amazing color. Although 09 iDrive looks easier to use, I like 08 iDrive more since it is very minimalistic.

I like the A3, it's a cool and versatle little car. Lots of room in the back. Also, the 2.0T is very tuneable. But it's certainly different from the 1er, apples to oranges.

You're right they are different animals. I liked the A3 b/c it had quattro, and considering I just had an accident in snow, it was in my top 3 picks. But I think it's uglier than the 1-series, and less focused for spirited driving. Plus, it's a little costlier with the options I wanted.

The Audi dealer was harassing me constantly for days on end, but as soon as I told him I was considering the 1-series, he abruptly stopped all communication. Rather curious, eh?

i would stick with the one if i was you. I have driven the a3 and even considered it, but it simply does not compare with the one on any level. IF you want a nice hot hatchback get the a3, if you want something a little more unique, more power, and BMWs logo go for the 1!

It works for either, because the very first thing you negotiate when leasing is the purchase price of the car....NOT the payments. This is a general misconception. There is, however, still a lot of work left to do when leasing even after coming to an agreement on the price of the vehicle.

I second that good luck with EVER getting the dealerships to stop calling you. Time for a new phone man.

I know, but it is hard to resist, I was several times in situation when I selected low price and dealer was agree, however when we started calculated payments, they were too high, so dealer should reduced originally proposed price by me several times until reach my payments threshold.

So I submitted my first round of offers. The first reply I got mentioned that my local BMW dealer would not want to accept the delivery since they didn't sell the car. Is this true? I had wondered about this before I sent it myself.

Will they really do this?

P.S. - any dealers out there reading this that want a similar deal to the OPs, please PM me

Or you could just not provide a phone number. Provide your e-mail, then call them if their offer is worth pursuing.

Ok, this worked for me too. Got one for 3k under MSRP! And if this dealer doesn't work, there were 3 others willing to make the same deal. Awesome!!!
