heh- on the outside, a small miracle to be sure! On the inside tho..., bet there's a small (medium sized maybe?) brown stain on the drivers seat Glad to hear you and your 1er escaped unscathed- that's pretty darn lucky!

You are indeed a lucky guy. I've heard of people hitting a deer and it totaling their car.

luckily, my reflexes were fast enough, at 3:30am, to slam the brakes hard enough to barely clip him with my passenger side fender. I also think my tow hook license plate holder helped with the impact. it was a beautiful several point buck. definitely a legal buck, in season. it's like deer wait for a car to come, to jump in front of. if I had not gotten on the brakes as fast as I did, my car would be totalled.

Saw this beauty for sale.
ABS, climate control and factory LSD. Minor rust (nothing serious) and 3 owners with full history, including the original swiss owner's purchasing contract. Needs some work, but i just giggled like a child when test driving it in Stuttgart. Steering is heavy, but goodness talk about feel. Someone said to me "you can run over a frog, and tell how many flies the frog had for dinner", that is the most accurate description i can compare with for this machine. Engine feels as it should, a big lump of iron in the front that acts like a typical BMW NA. Nothing till you hit 3K rpms, 3.5K is starts "waking up", 4K-4.2K and it gives you what you expect (just like the N52 but obviously less refined). I ended up purchasing it, already starting working on it. New suspension, clutch and lightened flywheel and a tune up/service is going in next week. Goal is to make it my "new" daily (yes even in winter) and track car, running costs is significantly less than the E82 (obviously). It already handles crazy well when going back to back with the E82 (and that car has KW v3 coil overs). Sadly this means the E82 is up for sale, lovely machine and i will miss it dearly. But realistically, with the 6+ track days i put in, it is more cost effective for me (significantly) to run the E30 than the E82 (which means even more track/seat time). |

You might still want to have the car checked out still. Especially, check the mounting tabs for you headlight. I hit a deer with my car too. While mine was more severe than yours, I was surprised by other damage my body shop found on the car. I hit the deer on the driver's side corner of the car. I thought all the damage was isolated there. My body shop found the mounting tabs for the passenger side headlights were broken too even though the rest of the housing was in perfect condition. So I ended up with two new headlights.

Judging from the local news reports, we tend to hit people.

If I had a radar detector I would've known ahead of time. I should look into one so this doesn't happen again. I've had them on other cars I've owned and they saved me plenty of times. Just lazy, but now I'll get serious. This can get expensive.

I've been running the Uniden R1 for months now, couldn't be happier- detection range is disturbingly good, and has the feature set to deal with the complex mix of tech in the new england area. I like that they issue firmware updates to add & refine features. R1 is an R3 without GPS- a feature I don't really need in my area.
Where I am it not what you would consider a complex area- nothing here but Ka, so I've just outright disabled X & K bands. Push of a button turns em back on if I travel. If you are a fan of arrows (I don't care, but lots of folks swear by em) the R1/R3's will be getting a bigger brother later this year, the R7 https://www.vortexradar.com/2019/01/...3-with-arrows/

Re-did my previously undid-redid-undid-redid-undid-notdid-whatever air box mod. I was bored today and wanted some more sound...
Also found that my oil-water heat exchanger gasket may be leaking. I'll look into it more when it isn't 10 degrees outside...
