So yes, a code.

Get it pulled at the dealer or a BMW indy shop, or buy a BMW specific code reader and do it yourself.

According to my SA , it was three bolts from vanos system that snapped off , will have more details later in the day.

So I went on searching my particular problem here in the forums, and it appears its a common problem with some BMW's , not only that a very costly repair if not under warranty.

I thought this only happened to the N55 or N54, not the N52. Is that wrong?

Both N54 and N52 , whole vanos unit was replaced , due to the bolts snapping off
