Would you be willing to share your minimum weight and declared average hp for TT5? I was looking and I thought my 128i would likely slot nicely into TT4 with around 240whp - I'd look to lose weight down to 2800lbs.

Absolutely. It is currently 200hp and 3000 lbs. I am trying to stay in tt5, so I will eventually be de-tuning to 185-190 hp and dropping 150 lbs. shooting for 190/2850. I may do two tunes and go to 240 so I can do tt5 and tt4 depending on car counts.

Makes sense - to me 240whp looks quite achievable with just headers, intake manifold, exhaust, and tune.

Been a long time since I have updated this, but I am happy to announce that I finally had an event without an issue! Went to Hallet for an SCCA TT with MidDiv, and got to run clockwise, which I guess is kind of rare. I had never been there for either direction. All I can say, is if you get a chance, GO. It is a really fun little track, good runoff in almost every corner, and the owners are top notch.

I ended up putting an oil cooler (air cooled) on the car, using the 335 oil filter housing and thermostat. I had not been able to finish sessions because of some unknown issue, but I kind of figured it was oil temp, as the stock 128 has none, and it only started (this issue anyway) when the summer temps started getting into the 90's. It seemed to do the trick, as I could run flat out all session.

Event wise, it was a great outing. My good friends Zach and Boonie and I have been back and forth all year, usually finishing with all three of us on the podium in various orders. I came out ahead both days, with my fast laps coming at the end of the session. I can finally get some real heat into stuff, and the car has always been better toward the end of sessions. (may be me, IDK)

Are you running the 245 R7? Thinking my STX car might slot into TT5 nicely for an event or two to "test the waters"...

I am running 225's actually. I had to run them in TTD, and won a bunch of sets. I am going to go with 245 eventually if I keep the car around, but it will without a doubt require some fender work front and rear.

I am not sure that fender work is needed to run the 245s - do you think they are wider than 255 RE71Rs?

I am 100% sure the 245s will fit the rears with no modification as long as the wheel offset is correct, and I'd think the fronts will fit (tight) as long as you have enough camber and a perfect wheel setup.

Fender work is not always required to run 245's, although depending the the tire and how lowered the car is there may be rubbing.

I am running 8.5x18 ET 45 front and I need spacers to clear the spring perch from the tire (10mm.) You can avoid this by running shorter springs. I'm at -3.2* camber. I've pulled the fenders on the front. The tire is very close to the front bumper but it does not seem to rub.

On the rear I'm running BMW 261 style wheels, 8.5 wide with a ET52 offset and a 245 BFG r1. -2.2* camber. If I lower the car too much tires will rub on corner exit.

A regular 245 is no problem. But this was specifically about hoosier R7 245's. A 225 hoosier is about an 1/8th of an inch narrower than a 255 "street" tire. (RE71, RS4, etc.) A 245 hoosier is at LEAST a 265 street tire, more in the range a 270. on a 9 inch wheel, a Hoosier 245 will not fit in there without rolling, front or rear, on my car. I have tried.

Edit: I had a picture of a mounted set of 255 Hankooks stacked next to a mounted set of 225 hoosiers. There was less than a 1/2 inch difference in the entire set. Wish I could find it...Also, same width roughly as 255 toyo RR's.

According to the NASA Section Width requirements - do you think a 245 R7 on a 9 or 9.5" rim would fit under the "266mm or less Section Width" allowed for TT5/ST5 cars over 2750lbs?

a 245 on MOST 9' rims will fit. 9.5, I do not believe will. 225's have about 1/2 inch play.
