Seat options/ideas for street/track use
I currently have the comfort seats in my 135i which I just picked up a few months ago. Obviously the lateral support is quite lacking. I plan on attending a number of track days each season with the car but also use it for semi-daily street driving and need to swap the seats. I was looking at tossing in a set of e92 M3 seats, which I figure would be a nice balance between street and track use. I was debating if the M3 (or even e82 sport seats) woudl be a good idea (i do love the heated seats in the winter) or if I should go for a more track oriented seat (which might be a bit difficult for my semi-daily driving) and I do have a single, frequent, adorable rear seat passenger.

I'm just going to reply to my own thread. I picked up a set of used e92 M3 seats and they're fantastic! They should work perfectly. Just have the SRS codes to clear.

I did something similar - installed sport seats from a 2006 335i into a 2011 328i xDrive. Some of the wiring was a bit different (despite being closely related models), and it took some rewiring in the seat to make it work. The bolsters and the lumbar didn't work until I did that. Also the 2006 had no pyros in the headrest and would throw an SRS code until I moved the '11 headrests into the '06 seats.
So just a heads up it might not be exactly plug and play, but there will be a work around available. |

Thanks, I have the passenger seat in and everything plugged right in and seems to work. It's been so darn cold out I haven't had time to really mess with it yet. There was a second 2 pin white connector, opposite the black connector that I believe is for the seat belt tensioner, which I left disconnected as there is no plug on my car's harness for it. So I'm not sure what that's supposed to do but I also haven't researched it at all.
