COOL engine swaps for a 135i

0: Move existing N55 to mid-engine position
--useful mostly for project car status
--make handling more interesting
--lots of work for little functional gain

1: 1200KW / 1200hp to the 4 wheels electric powertrain
--4x https://emrax.com/products/emrax-348/
--4x sevcon gen4 300kw
--60kwh LiCo RC LiPo pouch cells: <1000lbs, easily do 20C discharge for 1200kw
--fun, but too expensive for what you get: parts cost $100k bought new
A (much) shittier version of this can be done for $10K on up depending on how much power and range you want
to sacrifice, but what's the fun in that? Tesla already exists. The 1200hp build would be a lot faster than any Tesla.

2: Remove existing powertrain and replace with 3 (or 4) turbocharged (or NA) literbike motors, 1 per wheel in rear and 1 per front wheel or split between the front wheels
--full performance capability from hard launch to top end
--600-800bhp NA, 900-1200bhp turbo
--~450-550 lbs weight
--S1000RR motor weighs only 59kg!!
This option would be kind of cool and not that expensive for the end result if the power is sent out via roller chain and you get motors from wrecked bikes. But maintenance would suck and you would need to either synchronize or limit shifts. The car could possibly be really really fast.

3: Helicopter engine, turboshaft
--best noise, and really loud
--very high fuel consumption even at a standstill
--limited practical use
--not very quick without a lot of work, possibly high top speed
--cost and effort on par with roller chain multi-literbike swap

4: Virtual engine swap: remove / sell powertrain, use car as basis for virtual driving simulator
--Useful if you don't drive very much and don't have cash for a crazy built but want to keep (part of) the car
--ONLY useful if you simrace a lot

Other suggestions are welcome but please think outside the box.

Independent 4x literbike engines at the wheels would be a really intriguing setup. Wonder if it could be controlled via syvecs. Probably.

Would be worthwhile to strip the chassis down to the metal first and drill out every uneccessary bracket.

That should be interesting...

Stock computers per engine would be ok. The shift sync and recovery for failed shift on one or more motors is the interesting part. Other things equal it would probably make more sense to have the motors be direct drive and just slip the clutches for torque fill. Also it goes without saying that with the right software (4 throttle out signals to the ecus) you could have superior torque vectoring to any awd on the market that I'm aware of. Fail safe to ensure the car doesn't get too imbalanced if a motor seizes or quits will also be a topic to consider.

I think I'll start stripping my car soon. I don't really use it.
