Alcantara Steering Wheel Maintenance

Purchased a 135i a couple months ago that had the Alcantara leather wrapped steering wheel. After a few months of use the black is already starting to fade.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can restore it back to its original "shine?"

Thanks in advance,

Tyler

I use Sonax Alcantara & Upholstery Cleaner on my V1 Performance Steering Wheel.

Follow what the guy in this video does, and you'll be set:

You'd be surprised at how many people don't maintain these steering wheels properly :/ Good luck.

i clean my Alcantara wheel every 2 weeks....with a toothbrush as well as having tried a few different Alcantara cleaners including Sonax and Dr. Beasley's. Both are good.

These alcantara wheels need to be aggressively maintained or it WILL turn to crap.....but my wheel feels great.....guess it's been worth the hassle of cleaning it so often!

I gotta tell ya, I always liked the looks of these, but after watching this video, I'd never get one. I'm pretty anal about keeping my car as spotless as possible all the time, and my wife and friends would say exceedingly so. But I would never be able to maintain this material to these standards. I can tell it would take so long to do it, and I probably would never be happy with the results....

Do you rub the cleaner in with a toothbrush? Or a rag?

I only use a toothbrush to get dust out before I apply the cleaner, and after I'm done to revitalize the fibers.
