Wow - I wonder how fast she was going. Cabin seemed to hold up pretty good - no major injuries. I wonder if that unexplained fire was the result of the seat belt issue.

Small fire in the backseat? Is this related to the recall? It's either show off or DUI. I was almost hit by a DUI BMW driver last night.

It shows the driver in the picture. Its the teenage girl. the caption says "The driver and HER passenger" It looks like her dad or something. looks like the safety belt caught on fire. probably right. but judging by the time of day it looks like about 9am so i doubt she was getting hammed with her dad.... just a dumb girl who can't drive for shit. not to uncommon here. theres plenty over here.

and I know a ton of idiot teenagers who DUI. some idiot at my school decided to load on xanax at 2am and drive his car and total it into my gfs parked car in a neighborhood. New information released on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website shows that BMW is recalling all 1 Series models sold in the U.S. between 2008 and 2010 for a potential fire risk.

According to the manufacturer, cars built between December 1, 2007, and May 27, 2010, may not have sufficient clearance between the seatbelt tensioners and the sound insulation in the B-pillars. Should a crash occur, the tensioners could overheat. In rare instances, the excess temperature could possibly ignite the insulation material.

BMW has not yet released a fix for the issue, but has notified NHTSA of the recall and halted sales of all 1 Series models until it rectifies the design issue. BMW will notify owners of the recall shortly and provide updated information to NHTSA when it has a fix. For more information, contact your local BMW dealership.
