Has anyone received an October-December allocation?
It seems as though everyone's build dates are either in the May range or in the August range. Has anyone heard anything about the last quarter of production? I don't understand how dealers are saying they won't accept deposits when that last quarter can't even be ordered for.
My situation: I have a deposit for a specified price to be ordered in October (at my request, as I'm trying to postpone the purchase to a later time), but now I'm getting concerned that other (US, I don't know about Canadian) dealers seem to be turning people away without even having orders put in for the last quarter. Now, I'm considering bumping up to August. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

I have an allocation that will be produced in October or November. This is the only allocation the dealer is getting for the year- nothing for May to August.

Wait a minute. Are you all saying you have actual Production Allocations from August and later????
Is this just the dealer making guesses at when they might get cars? BMW is actually Allocating these cars Monthly with Allocations announced a few days after each dealers other models have been allocated. My question to each that claim a future Allocation beyond April is this, can you see your Allocation on the BMW computer system? If not you don't have an Allocation. According to my CA they can only see month to month, not in the future. I have sat down with him and gone over the computer Allocation system and you can plainly see this. You can also see where all Allocations are going i.e. which dealers.

I believe that means you are just in the "order bank". Your next step is to await an actual production number, which guarantees the car.

I'm probably in the "order bank" too. I have put down a deposit, signed a purchase contract and we discussed having a mid-October build, to make good a late November delivery. (Don't want to start making any payments before that). Last time I spoke to the dealer, he was keeping an eye out for that allocation.

SamS: I am going to talk to my dealer next wednesday when i am going to get a preview of the new 6-series and 1-series facelift. I hope he could answer my questions. I think that BMW Sweden got their 30cars and then distributed them to the dealers. I did put in 10% in deposit..
Edit: My dealer has got a number on my car for me(ordernumber). The next step he says is the chassienumber but that doesnt appear untill production.. Last edited by Twinsturbo; 03-17-2011 at 04:16 PM.. |

I do not have an actual production number yet, but when my dealer contacted me, he said that they were told they would only be allocated one car and that it would be delivered in November. I am planning on calling my CA to get more specifics and ask how they know this when others are saying allocations are only being announced the month prior to production.

I was told my allocation was a november build. The email from the BMW northeast sales rep says it will still be a 2011. They are guessing a December delivery date.

I've confirmed with my dealer that my order application has been submitted for their 1 car/mo allotment. Apparently, this Canadian dealer has been officially informed that they are guaranteed 1 car/mo, based upon their sales performance. It seems some smaller dealers may get 1 car/2 mo, and bigger dealers may get 2/mo. But, I'm happy now that things seem to be clarified, and my order is pretty much a done deal.
