Installing KW V2’s tomorrow…
My 2012 128i M Sport is getting its first major mod.
Anybody have any experience with KW’s (V2) and is there anything I should tell the technician before the install as far as ride settings are concerned? I just read somewhere that “KW out-of-the-box” settings are ideal. Can anybody confirm this? Thank you. |

Make sure you have the special tool to tighten the front strut nuts. A spreader socket for the front knuckles is good to have too, but not required. KWs recommended settings are good to start. I set mine mine to 1 click from full soft and then 1 click from full hard just to appreciate the difference, then dialed in from there.

Curious if you are modifying for track or street performance?

As long as it's a mechanic you know and trust and they actually give a damn about doing the job right, you should be fine on install and I don't think there's anything specific you'd need to mention, minus ride height and alignment if you have an idea of what you want there. In terms of adjusting the suspension, you'll know what's right for you after driving them a little bit, it's all personal preference. I have a basic Koni Yellow/Eibach setup and I've read on here people like driving those around at about 50% from full stiff. Personally, I think that setup is a bit soft, and I don't think I've ever enjoyed driving on them less than 70% from full stiff.
Hope all goes well! |

It all went well. Didn't have the right size spacers so I'm taking her back in this week for the spacer install. I have to say coming from an old M Sport suspension, it is night and day! As of now, the out-the-box setting is perfect for me. It's sitting nice and low and I'm surprised how smooth the ride is. Worth every hard-earned penny! And yes, I need a new front M Sport bumper. |

How much lower did you—well, your 1er—end up? If you happen to have it or can easily get it, I'm curious about ground-to-wheel-well measurements for both the old M Sport and new KW setups.

Thanks. Mine came to me with the TC Kline setup and quite low and I finally got the driver's side rear adjuster to move tonight, so was just wondering what "stock" was. Next stop is somewhere it both looks good and doesn't scrape, then I'll figure out what I like best for handling and ride from there.
