Would really appreciate if we can get a confirmed production number for us Canadian folks as well. I've heard 200 and and now 223...someone who knows someone go hunt down this figure now that we know the US production number.

You forgot the 8 series. The 850 CSi , which was produced by BMW Motorsport, only had 225 US examples.

Sorry, but you are mistaken.

I'm working on it.....

very close to the number of E30 M3 Sport Evos produced... which was around 600 . I have always considered the 1M to be much like the Sport Evo. Except this time the US was included ! Curious to see what the worldwide figure is.

I am not sure I understand the context there, what exactly does that mean?
I have the same question???

Homologation is done by an auto maker to meet racing requirements for a new model car as was the case with the M1. What does this have to do with a 2012 model 1M or not?

I think that is great BUT I still like the French plaques best that showed the sequence. I.E. 116 of 150. I wish BMW would help us determine the where in the sequence our Chassis fell.

That would be really cool. If the French can have it, why not the Yanks....we helped them out twice now! LOL

I was just kidding yar! I plan on driving it. I actually have 2 BMW's even rarer than the 1M - the 95 M3 lightweight and the 01 S54 Z3 M Coupe so they will be the garage queens.

Perfect!!
I must say 740 is lower than I expected!
Plaques like the Brits or that ring around the start button would be a nice addition.

I tried for about 5 months to order one but was told by the dealership I work with that I could not. I finally tracked down 2 1M's at BMW of SanFran. They want $74K for either one. I told the salesperson, "thanks but I'll pass". I purchased a 335is instead.

Homologation is just another term automakers use for when they take a car and certify or comply it to another country's legal requirements for sale in that country.
