n52 engine 2009 e82

I just picked up a 128ic with a m-sport package and w/a 6MT.
Is there a rev limiter on the engine? and if so what rpm?
Is there a mph (speed) limiter on the engine? Do they alter these limiters? Please advise.
BTW, here's my daily driver. i love it.

Yes on all your Q's. I don't know what the rev limit is on your 128i, but its probably around 6,500 rpms or so. Once your engine is fully warmed up you could find out though.

All BMW have a top speed limiter. All cars come with a 130 mph speed limit. On cars with the M-sport package, which includes "#840 speed sync" the limit is raised to 155 mph.

You can look over your build/options sheet for this special option:

840 Increased top speed limiter

Thank you for the answers. I've already been to 6500, most likely 6700 rpm. My beauty is that free revving. i love it.

Congrats on the 128. They are an awesome car, even though they don't get much respect on this forum!

The limiter should be near 7k. I know first gear on my car(automatic) goes to 6,500, but then second gear and on it goes to 7k rpm.

If you have sport or M sport package it goes to 155 mph as stated above

Don't do that. The 128i is a great machine. The naturally aspirated inline 6, rwd, manual car is classic BMW.

Redline is 7000rpm, the limited kicks in right around 7150-7200rpm.

I thought m-sport packages had a 150mph top speed?
Most actual M cars have a 155 though I believe.
