Just a smaller version of the 5's speedometer and tach. I see the cruise control is gonna work the same too. Gets a thumbsup from me.

I like the ring of amber light on the inside of both displays. It'll look great at night.

I LOVE the style of numbering and lettering this time around. Sheer perfection!

I wonder how hard its gonna be to get to the inside of the display to install chrome ring srrounds. Dunno if this will even be possible.

I WOULD have said it will definitely be possible and probably quite easy. But after finding out about the headlight assembly, I cant be so sure. I know for the E46, they used to replace them all the time. Ill have to research that...

Here's a diagram of how the entire instrument panel is constructed and assembled. It looks like the ring surrounds is in the front most part behind the clear plastic. Question now is if you can somehow get under that plastic cover to replace the rings. I'm sure we'll find out in due time.

Chrome Surrounds

If it's like the last 3 series they are not really chrome rings, it's just chrome paint painted onto the edges of the black plastic surrounds. At least that was what was on my '01 330i.

Should be fairly easy to do IF you can get to the face plate.

what is the red marker on the speedometer next to the ~90kph mark? I remember seeing this during the test drive but forgot to ask the dealer.

Hmm..I can only imagine it equates to the 55 mph mark "highlighted" on most cars in the US. You got me though...

You are correct. As I mentioned earlier, the cluster looks to be set up the same as the E60s.

That is sheer beauty. Does anyone have a pic of the instrument panel at night? Just curious how gorgeous it is when there is minimal ambient light.

The little red tick on the edge of the speedo is indeed the cruise control reference mark. I tried it out yesterday on a new 330. It's VERY trick!! You'll love the way it works and looks.
